Re: Show us your Sol
Not sure if I like it or not. Feels like it's missing something. Maybe just needs a gunmetal but retainer plate instead of the purple. Plus I scratched up the drag star (should have put more than one layer of tape before bending it since it was pretty soft metal). I was gonna buy a swept version anyway just wish I could find a gunmetal one with black in the middle instead of red like the on on the px68.

Thanks guys. It is one of my favorites.
Do you think it needs more purple (knob caps, screws, level wind screw).
Or maybe some gold parts instead to go with the line guide.
I think gold would do it for me.

Re: Show us your Sol
Personally, I would swap in a gunmetal retainer screw and look for a purple drag star (if they make them). Then it would be perfect I think. Looks great as it is now though for sure.

Yeah, a gunmetal screw would be better. I was looking at the hedgehog drag star as well. We'll see. I'm kinda thinking champagne gold knob caps but I'm gonna try to change the color on the computer first and see how it looks.IlliniDawg01 wrote: βSat Oct 26, 2019 4:21 amPersonally, I would swap in a gunmetal retainer screw and look for a purple drag star (if they make them). Good idea to mock it up on your computer first.chrisg_sdcf wrote: βSat Oct 26, 2019 5:39 pmYeah, a gunmetal screw would be better. I was looking at the hedgehog drag star as well. We'll see. Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

When I see this post lately I think of the old school classic "Blue Thunder", just replace the O with an A for the Alphas by the way these are all very sweet platforms and iterations I just had to share that little friendly jab

Re: Show us your Sol
Received this little project as a box of parts. The reel had seen better days and a good amount of use in saltwater. A good cleaning and a few modifications later and finally finished her up. I had to order a couple parts like the line guide and "death" screw but the cf handle and modified TDZ star, I had as extras. I even turned down the worm gear bushing on the lathe to allow for a bearing to be added. And of course, I ported the driveshaft and tapped for a steez handle bolt. I'm going to try to catch some snakehead after work and see how this thing fishes. I'll probably be putting it up for sale shortly, although I'm really digging it. I just don't have a use for it.
