Re: Alphas Appreciation Thread
Since you all have a good amount of Alphas, how much different is the 8 gear (including BFS versions) from the lower gear ratios? I have a 7.2 SV105, it is still butter smooth. Not quite Zillion SV 1000 level, but pretty smooth. I am shying away from the highest ratios after a few negative experiences. Changed a 9.1 Zillion to a 7.3 and got rid of an 8.1 Steez. Just wondering if the Alphas follows trend and the lower ratios are smoother. Planned on grabbing the new Alphas SV TW 8.1 but now the 7.1 seems to be a better idea.
Re: Alphas Appreciation Thread
From a smoothness perspective the 8.x ratios have been just as smooth as my lower ratio reels. My 8.1 alphas sv tw has been swapped to a steez ct 8.1 gear set and I added steez/zillion factory clicking drag setup in it. The 8.6 alphas air gears we're super smooth as well but I just swapped it to the 8.5 gears and clicking drag setup out of the gekkabijin. The gekkabijin and new silver creek reels share the same gears and drag setup from the 8.5 zillion 1000.

hi all,

Re: Alphas Appreciation Thread
If that is the case I would feel way better about using one of those BFS reels for larger river fish. The aluminum Zillion 7.1 gears in my JDM version are unbelievably smooth. I guess I am going to pull the trigger on a 7.1 Alphas SV TW for my second reel this season.ss30378 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 03, 2022 9:09 amFrom a smoothness perspective the 8.x ratios have been just as smooth as my lower ratio reels. Just ordered one of those yesterday.DirtyD64 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 16, 2022 10:08 amIf that is the case I would feel way better about using one of those BFS reels for larger river fish. Re: Alphas Appreciation Thread
I saw multiple of these transparent handle side plates from South Korea. Pretty certain someone in there has made a bunch, but i don't see why would anyone use it for other than a showcase reel.
Re: Alphas Appreciation Thread
If anyone is going to try one of these reels, because they will surely disappear and be hard to find eventually like the other models. Now is the time. They are almost sub $200 on the JDM sites I check right now. Mine hasn't come in, but if a Tatula SV will be going for $230 area, $202 for an Alphas SV TW is a steal.

Re: Alphas Appreciation Thread
FWIW, I had to flush the spool bearings to get satisfactory distance from my Alphas TW. They were absolutely packed-to-the -gills with thick grease. It took acetone and 2 cycles thru the sonic jewelry cleaner to get them completely clear. It was a much better distance caster after that flush(plus a little red Daiwa oil). Same story with my Tatula 80.
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

Which reel do you prefer, the 80 or SV?hoohoorjoo wrote: ↑Sat Mar 26, 2022 4:41 pmFWIW, I had to flush the spool bearings to get satisfactory distance from my Alphas TW. Honestly, I couldn't tell them apart if my eyes were closed. For full transparency, I did add handle knob bearings to the Tat, but I really think it is one of the best values out there for the $153 I paid for it from JLS, plus I got a ~$12 Imikatsu blade bait as a gift, and I really like the action of it.Kimbro1014 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 27, 2022 3:38 amWhich reel do you prefer, the 80 or SV?hoohoorjoo wrote: ↑Sat Mar 26, 2022 4:41 pmFWIW, I had to flush the spool bearings to get satisfactory distance from my Alphas TW. Re: Alphas Appreciation Thread
Deep down I wish they'd have kept the 30mm spool around. I am cool with the 32mm but hearing more and more on how it isn't the furthest casting reel. My old SV105 bombs, might have to add a Zillion SV TW inductor to the new one if it is over braked. Wonder if they will eventually make the "BOOST" springs available or if they are even compatible with older spools.hoohoorjoo wrote: ↑Sun Mar 27, 2022 5:33 amHonestly, I couldn't tell them apart if my eyes were closed. You're in luck if you like the 30mm spool. The Tatula SV 70 has a 30mm spool.DirtyD64 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 27, 2022 6:13 amDeep down I wish they'd have kept the 30mm spool around. Re: Alphas Appreciation Thread
I just meant that I wished they had kept the line capacity of the 30mm. Even with smaller reels I still put a good bit of braid backinghoohoorjoo wrote: ↑Sun Mar 27, 2022 10:45 amYou're in luck if you like the 30mm spool.
