What rod for Sustain 3000

Post by Rodster14 » Thu Feb 10, 2022 2:37 am

I just ordered a Sustain 3000 FJ and am looking for rod recommendations. I prefer to stay in the Shimano/Loomis family. I want the most versatile rod to take to the beach. I like to fish around bridges and other inshore areas. Never do any good on the beach. I’m thinking a 7 ft M or MH. Thoughts?

Just bought a Shimano teremar XX SE 7' M and its the nicest inshore rod I have ever fished. $299 and on par with GLX.

For shore fishing I prefer a longer rod, I have my sustain on a St Croix 7-6 Legend Tournament Inshore rod, its a great setup, for even longer casting St Croix has 2 7'10" Victory spinning rods which would work for long distance casting

John, the Fuji 'O' guides hold up well in Salt on the Victory? I know its smart to spray down any gear you fish with in SW but wanted to ask. Thanks!

I went with the Shimano teremar XX SE 7' M that was recommended. It is a very nice rod. Although it is my saltwater setup, I feel comfortable using it for general bass fishing.

As per my opinion The IMX-1165-2S is a 9'8" 8-17 will be good option , which would cover your bases well. it would still be pretty well fit to your 3000 size reel.
