Not bad if that is roughly a 40lb US brand equivalent. I found my 34mm Amos to spool themselves with 40 lbs braid and a frog and ultimately cast shorter than my TD Zillion HLC. Really great at below 1/2 oz though. They also didn't like hard casts the way the HLC spool did but did like gently casting motions that would blow up the HLC.
I started with the DIY spool and brake settings 8-10/20. I made soft and semi-hard casts - all went well and fishing was pleasant.
I used the HLC spool for an hour or so (12 or 15 lb mono). Brake settings 10/20 with heavier lures (~3/4 oz) and 12-13/20 with 3/8 lure (Rapala Countdown Elite 75). Did one soft cast with immediate regret... had to hammer the lures away and fishing was less pleasant. I guess the HLC spool can help achieve longer casts vs diy spool, if I play around with setting ad find the right lure type, but for general use I did not see a noticeable difference in casting distance.

Note, the silver DIY spool (ebay seller) I used does not say “Amo” but it looks like an Amo. I have a black Amo inbound for the same reel (OG zillion / Seez A Hlc) and will compare the spools.

Got to play with the purple Amo spool today and it is a different animal from the red one despite being the same spool. These appear to be inconsistent in behavior. The red one is great in the SS SV105 but the purple one is wild to the point of almost be unusable in the same reel. It didn't like the 1/3 oz crank at all and kept backlashing early in the cast forcing me to go max on the mag dial and cut down on casting distance. Switching to a 5 inch senko it behaved better but had to be lob cast not to blow up. Even then the best I could manage was a 100 foot lob casts with it. I can't put any energy into the cast without blowing it up. Not happy with this one. Going to see how I like it with IS magnets. Maybe it can find a home then or else it become a pitching spool only. I was hoping to use it in my Steez LTD on a Levante to get that green and light purple combo going with the rod. Its got to beat out a 1010 spool though to win that honor. Dont know it is will be up to the task.

Same reel and line. Same spool but in purple. This one is too fast in the SS SV105.

Sounds like it might not be assembled correctly, or is malfunctioning. I've never had any 2 spools appear the same but perform significantly different from each other.
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

If you have the two spools side by side, are the inductors sticking out the same distance? Are they the same thickness? That's really odd.

Yes, I spooled it with 0.20 mm J-Braid (PE 2, 29 lbs and 13 kg for any trans-atlantic line confusion).
Got a decent amount of line on the spool, >100 m or so.
I have used it test-casting in my backyard. Worked liked a charm.
Tomorrow I may use it for river fishing after salmon.
Nice! Lookin forward to what you think of it
Very nice spool. Effortless long casts with the 3/8-3/4 oz lures I used today. Fast but not prone to backlash (had none). Quiet bearing, no noise. Today, I liked it better than stock Steez A HLC spool.
Which reel did you get for the spool? I've been hoping for the longest time that someone would make one of these spools for OG Zillion/TD-Z US Trail frames. It's too bad it doesn't come in at the price point the original DIY spools did...

Steez A HLC
The silver spool from ebay seller is a nice match.

The Steez A HLC uses the old type 36mm spool? Or are you talking about a different spool?

I have not personally measured it, but yes it uses an old style spool size.
I actually got the spool because I wanted to use it in my Zillion HLC, Zillion HD, Ryoga 1520. It fit neither of those nor any of my 34 mm spool reels.
Plugged it into the Steez A Hlc and it is a perfect fit:

Wait, the silver 36mm spool does NOT fit the Zillion HLC, but it does fit the Steez A HLC? That doesn't sound right. I'm asking because another member here says that it does fit the og Ziilion.

This fits the steez A hlc:

I guess this fits the TD Zillion TW HLC 1514-1516 and the 1520 Ryoga:

At least I hope it does, as I have two spools incoming.

Maybe I use a wrong nomenclature. Let me know 🤗

There have been a number of Zillion HLCs after the TD Zillion HLC. There are two of the big tatula based wide spool Zillion HLCs. "1516" sized reels I believe. Catalina TW spool is not a bad one either for that platform. It has a stiffer than normal Magforce Z spring. Not quite as fast as my TD Zillion HLC but not to far behind.

That ebay link is for the wide spool 36mm old tatula based Zillions. That won't for the old narrow spool 36mm TD Zillions. Nice find though. There are at least 3 Aliexpress spools that fit those reels. Ray's, Amo/SDS and some 3rd air brake one.
