How much is this swap. Where do you get the clicker?

If the clicker ring doesnt come with the gear set, should be able to purchase the parts wherever you purchase the gear set

A couple more questions as I'm looking to make my aldebarans smoother. I currently have a 51 Hg, if I ordered the conquest gears it would slow the ipt down right? If so, can I just assume that whatever the conquest 6.5 ipt is now what my aldebaran would be? Also, the drag clicker. Is that a clicker as in you get the ckick feel when you tighten/loosen the star drag or is it the clicker than clicks when the line is being pulled out via the drag? I'd like to order this but am not sure if the clicker needs to be ordered separately

Your IPT will be an inch or two more than the 6.5 aldebaran. The clicking drag referenced above is the “excited drag” which is the noise you get when the drag gets pulled out, like a spinning reel. To get that feature you would need item numbers 40-45 in the schematic below. If you don’t need the exited drag then just the gear set will work. It not only makes the gearing smoother but it takes out some of the hollowness of the aldebaran platform.

I just did this to my Aldebaran BFS XG and a non mgl Alde 51 with some greased Carbontex washers, these are going to be moving bait reels and dam did it smooth up the feel of the reels and my 51 now has a clicking drag. I took the BFS XG gears and some clicking drag pats and put them into my 31 mgl with a set of greased carbontex drag washers, I use this reel for drop shots and ned rigs and thought a clicking drag would be a nice addition and faster gear ratio is always fun.

Did this for a friends original alderbaron.
Gear set
Drag clicker insert
Spring
Detent
Drag plate and keyed washer.

Super smooth, now fully brass (inshore set up) and drag clicker!

Anyone got info on this? I'm interested to know if they stayed smooth too. I've read in other forums that the micromodule gears wear out faster than the standard ones.

Did the swap just now on my Aldebaran 31MGL. Changed to Conquest BFS HG gears.
As expected, right after the change, smooth.
Will report back in a few months to see if it holds up...
Keeping my expectations low haha.

How’s yours been holding up, I did this to mine as well and used it for jerkbaits and some shakeyhead. After putting a lot of hours on it with jerkbaiting being hard on gears it’s holding up well and the carbontex drag washers were a good upgrade compared to the original.
