Shimano knobs

Post by zelmo » Tue Sep 28, 2021 12:35 pm

I was cleaning up my Chronarch 50 Mg and noticed that the knobs were extremely sticky. Nothing that I tried on them helped. Its as if they are degrading.

I checked the rest of my reels and the Curado Ds are having the same issue. None of the other models have the problem, nor the other brands. I don’t know if that has something to do with the age or the material. These are my oldest baitcasters.

Is this a known issue with these reels?

Very common issue with the old shimano septon knobs. They normally get sticky with age.
Just order new knobs from shimano. The newer styles should fit on the older handles. I dont think the newer style knobs get sticky like the old ones do.

Thanks. I looked around for replacement knobs and the description on one said the original knobs would melt after 4 or 5 years. I guess I did good with mine.
