Steez Ct Sv drag washers.
Hey fellas just recently had some sticky/stuttering drag issues lately , was wondering what exact carbontex set will fit this model? There is a thin drag washer inside the main gear and an orange drag washer under the main gear..
Thankyou
Thankyou

same as the steez A, the main culprit for the jerky drag is the washer under the main gear, If cutting your own washers a 28mm OD with 13mm ID will do for the washer inside the main gear and 25mm od x 8mm ID for the washer under the gear , I use the 1mm thick carbontex sheet to make washers. also use a drag grease rubbed into the carbontex washer, I use Cals.

Appreciate the info! Do you prefer the thickness of the carbontex to be the same as inside the main gear and the washer under the main gear ?

I use the 1mm thick carbontex for both washers. Only when replacing drags in the likes of the OG zillions with a multidisc drag do I use the 0.5mm carbontex. There has been the odd reel where 0.65mm or 0.8mm has been used but these usually not from one of the big manufacturers. Even rarer have I used the 1.3mm carbontex.

Try smoothdrag in the USA for your carbontex supplies. I get it from an Aussie supplier that I am sure gets it from there.
Heres a bit of trivia for you. Carbontex and Penn HT100 drag material was originally developed in by the late Jack Erskine in Australia whom sold the rights to it to Smoothdrag. The man was famous here as a game fisherman and reel engineer and has made some very big contributions to the tackle industry and was heavily involved with Penn for a while.

Does this hold true for other Daiwa reels? I have an Alphas CT SV that's a bit hurky jerky under moderate to heavy drag pressure, smoother with light drag settings...should I swap the washer under main gear to carbontex?BARRAMANIAC wrote: ↑Sat Jun 04, 2022 2:07 pmsame as the steez A, the main culprit for the jerky drag is the washer under the main gear
