Daiwa AIRD 100HLA
Hello,
I have a Daiwa AIRD 100HLA that I have had and abused for quite awhile now. It needs some love, but dont know if its worth doing.
Currently the handle knob bearings are rusted out and need replacement. It has a fixed inductor and instead of metal or copper shims in the spool tension knob an side plate, it has micarta (spelling?)
Are there any reasonable and noticeable upgrades for this reel? Ceramic pawl? Spool bearings? Upgraded spool? Is it even worth while?

I had an aird coastal, you can do like what I did and upgrade the bearings with RC bearings for cheap but I wouldn't go any further.

Did the bearings make a difference? I've only used this reel for steelhead drift fishing, it is super tame with 8-10 pound Maxima.

Made it a bit smoother, cheap ceramics on the spool did free it up a little bit.d510addict wrote: ↑Sun Aug 07, 2022 2:15 pmDid the bearings make a difference? I've only used this reel for steelhead drift fishing, it is super tame with 8-10 pound Maxima.

The US Airds were cool looking but appeared to be a Lexa/Exceller EXE platform. I think they were plastic frame too? At the time I thought they were fancy Lagunas but this is definitely Lexa platform.

It's a polymer frame for sure I don't remember the lexa platform from that time period.
