lube port

Post by mark poulson » Tue Apr 04, 2023 4:10 pm

Does anyone here use the lube port on their baitcasters?
I've owned several, and have never used one. It didn't seem to make sense on the water, and, at least for the reels I had, it didn't allow for a thorough lubing of the gears.

Thinking of doing one however stuck on what kind of hole and screw option to plug it, I've got a couple silicon plugs but still unsure.

Have installed a couple on larger reels like my Saragossa.

I am an ABU fan and all my reels have them. However I never use them. I just clean all my reels thoroughly once a year. I do occasionally add a drop of rocket fuel oil to my spool bearing once I hear it start to make noise.
