3D Printed Knob Removal Wrench

Post by triple_illusion » Mon Oct 30, 2023 11:29 am

Hey Guys,

I challenged a friend of mine to come up with a tool to remove the knob caps from the Tranx without marring them, and this was his solution:

This works incredibly well, so I wanted to share it with all of you. If anyone would like one, please send me a PM. Cheers!

Does that have two flat spots on the nut? If so have your friend make a full round with two flats, also called a double "D". This will make it easier especially if you have a 1/4" drive on the end. I made something similar, see pics enclosed. Mine is for a hex but you can incorporate yours in this design and you won't have stretch out your knob as you turn your little wrench. BTW good idea. I've printed several tool for cleaning my reels to keep from scratching them.

I clean a lot of reels for the guys in my club and after about 60 reels the 3d printed tools do get loose and need replacing. I just print a couple more and I'm back in business. The nice thing about it is I can make any combination of tools in std and metric. If I need a specialty tool I can design and make it myself in a couple of hours.

How do you guys remove the caps on the Daiwa power handles with the big foam knobs? It's the knobs with the 2 circles that you need some sort of key to remove.

For 25 bucks, You can buy SLP power knob and the tool should come with it.
