Reel Service

Post by craigrbns » Fri Dec 08, 2023 6:43 am

All,

Any recommendations on someone to send 2 reels to for some service? I use to do everything myself and no longer have the time/desire. I’ve got 2 reels needing a bit of attention- a Conquest 100 and a Davies T3 SV8.

I let someone local clean them both up but the conquest obviously wasn’t put back together properly and the SV8 needs some bearings replaced that weren’t. I used DR on here years ago but I’m not sure if he’s still around or not. I put in a message to e_bassfisher a while back but haven’t received a response.

Thanks in advance! - Craig

Trey Harpel also does excellent work.

Thanks! I still haven’t heard back from Ian. I used Trey years ago and couldn’t remember his name. What is his ID in here if he is still around?

Google Trey Harpel Reel Service and he has Fascist Book and IG, etc., for contact.

If you're looking for Ian, he can be found at https://jdmfishing.com/shields/. I just sent him some reels last week.

I run a service myself. Always a bummer opening up one that was last touched by somebody unfamiliar with the reel or lazy with their work. I've had them come in caked in lithium grease, missing parts, and people that got screwed by somebody that claimed to have cleaned the reel while they only added grease and oil on top of the old dirty stuff.
