Shimano Aldebaran MG Svs brakes
How do i adjust the brakes ? There is no dial for external adjustment.
I got this used. It is a 50 size.
I have been unable to find any user manual.
Thanks.

Check the bottom side of the non-handle side plate... on some Shimano reels, the brake adjustment dial is concealed in that location.

Is this similar to the current Aldebaran model reels? If this is an older model from Japan it did not have any external adjustments. The brakes are on the spool and can be turned on or off. In Japan they called that brake system SVS and in the US we called it VBS. The SVS Infinity is the current brake system with internal and external adjustment.

The plastic sleeve is at the bottom nearest the center of the spool. Is this the off?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Well now that I know that it is a VBS system. I found out how to adjust it with a search.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Oh! You're talking about the original Aldebaran, wow... so the spool looks like the one pictured here on the left, correct?
So yes, those plastic brakes pushed towards the center and locked in place = off... pushed out towards the end = on
Full review can be found here if you need more info on the reel: http://www.tackletour.com/reviewshimanoaldebaran.html
