wet scorpion dc reel

had a problem today. small boat, too many outfits, inattention/distraction. scorpion dc 100hg had to be fished out of the water. still works fine. do i need to disassemble/dry it?

Open the sideplate, remove the spool and sit it in front of a fan on high.
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

If it's freshwater, just drying it out should be fine. If it was dunk in Saltwater, then you'll need to flush out and re-lube the gears and bearings.

thanks for replies, guys! seems like all is well with it. sure is a great reel. i was in freshwater(mostly barren, i found out. beautiful day to be on water.)

Regardless of what type of water you want to get it serviced. Freshwater can carry sediments and that can do damage, saltwater carries salt and sediments like quartz, silicates and the list goes on etc.

With freshwater it's good if you want to just dry it out, relube and keep on plugging, but honestly it there is any gritty feeling - get onto it.

Slazmo is 100% correct. Typically if the reel is dunked in freshwater it will be ok, but if that water was muddy or dirty I would service the reel. Just to be safe.
