US Handle Size

Post by DirtyD64 » Wed Mar 22, 2023 12:58 pm

What is the mm length of the USDM Metanium 150B HG and/or 6.2 ratio?

I am looking to order a 90mm handle for an Aldebaran BFS I just ordered, but I noticed the XG handle part number is different than the 6.2/7.1 models. I am pretty sure the US XG models have a 96mm and the regular models have a 90mm. Same question and situation for the Bantam A. Anyone shine light on this?

The Metanium XG reels have a 95mm handle. I believe the HG is either 84 or 90mm. I would need to order one and measure it as I do not have a list of the specs on hand. The Bantam A should have the same handle lengths as Metanium. I'll double check the lengths today and post them later today or tomorrow.

Thanks. Same goes for the Curado 150, just looking for any 90mm handle to take the place of an 80mm on a BFS Aldebaran. 84mm would work but I was hesitant to order the XG because they were either 95mm or 96mm.

The Curado 150HG handle is 90mm. I just measured one with the Mitutoyo digital calibers. I thought we had a Metanium HG in the back but it was just a box. I will order a replacement handle to measure it. I'll have an answer for you tomorrow.

I went ahead and got the Curado 150 handle. Probably switch the knobs from the Aldebaran BFS if it allows. Curado handle and plate after tax and shipping was like $35. The Metanium and Bantam were a good bit higher, assuming because those include bearings.

Yes they have two bearings per paddle. You should be able to swap the paddles and bearings over to the other handle with no issue. Just make sure you include any spacers/shims that are there to eliminate any excess play or to prevent a possible binding issue.

Got the parts in quick from Shimano, but I made a mistake. The newest Aldebaran has a non-covered nut for the handle. I got the Curado MGL handle and nut plate, but you can see the threads and it could be a potential water entry point (not to mention the looks aren't so good).

I hated to start a new thread or change the subject, but do you think a covered nut will work from another Shimano reel? If so which one?

Just get the nut and lock plate from the Curado MGL and change it over. The thread size for the nut is the same.

Will do, already have the lock plate, just forgot to get the nut, didn't realize the Aldebaran had an uncovered nut. Sizes match, just hoping the covered nut from the Curado will tighten down far enough.
