Pay off finally I suppose at least in the lure Department as stated some time previously I think I've been chasing these finally saw them come up back on a January drop. this is called the smooth version of the KGB Chad Shad I can see what the fuss is on paper so far pretty Rock Solid Construction. So many more rad drops that I've missed out on he has a really nice looking crappie imitation. probably be a minute if I get any notes/water time on it at all I haven't been attempting to get a line wet and quite some time just thought I'd share the latest...hope all is well with everyone 8-)

Well I haven't gotten a line wet for awhile jome resovoirs or otherwise and finally was able to snag some specimens(spotties)from the San Diego Bay while on vacation with the family. Not huge but they're sure fun on these four inch Easy Shiners by Keitech. 10lb P-Line floroclear as per the usual with a a 1/4oz swim jig, a Triple X 4pc BE2 mated with the 19' CT Steez. Picked them off in the weedlines from shore this morning.

Again not winning weight but very very smart fighters no matter what size they are. Thankfully no break offs, just enough strength in my total set up. I was able to free many once they decided to quickly dive and ghilly suit themselves up after the freight train intial strike although it takes some sensibilities as you don't want to pull on them too hard, lost quick a few that way getting to excited to get them landed on shore.

The speed on the Steez CT is dope for this type of fishing. The braking system and power for this little platform is t*ts!! The Triple X 4pc BE2 is perfect for over all battle of this species type.

Forgot to add the evening species that I was getting into were small Calico for those who are keeping track I know I am :big grin:

This was one of many this evening on the Bayside beaches while the family lounged and frolicked 8-)

Notes on the "Smooth" Chad Shad in Bone by KGB. This thing is absolutely nuts I thought I liked Hiroshima Glides but man these things are Glide machines excellent fall rate, super slow in my opinion, but that's subjective of course has a nice even fall to it very horizontal doesn't take much which is nice to get this thing moving properly tested it out on the backyard pool of course when you speed up the retrieve swims very nicely doesn't appear to "wash/blow out". And depending on what offering you get lucky to procure they range in prices. This one was around $114ish if I remember correctly :-k

I definitely will probably do the waiting game and sit and check the sites daily to try to get some more of these things because they're pretty nuts. We will see though you know how that goes :big grin:

Somehow I got involved with a recent drop and was able to procure one of these single pieced specimens from Illude :big grin:

Notes to follow as I haven't used one of these before so I'm interested to see how a single piece does to single and multi-jointed styles

And you know what's next :P

Also picked up another Nat Rat from Bigg Nasty Baits. That one in "pure honey" pattern should arrive sometime down the pipeline, couldn't resist as usual for my excuse

Notes on the Illude Single piece Zombie Rat. First off I'd like to say the coating used on this run of baits is super neat. It's kind of a rubberized satin finish kind of deal going on makes it really grippy to the touch so I imagine it gives the fish somewhat a tactile sensation.

Anyway I don't believe this bait was designed to go fast after trying to burn it a few times it tends to want a Veer off to one side or another mostly to my left anyway not really a big deal because we're this thing shines is real slow crawl or a slower paced retrive and it has a really really significant booty shake on it which is great as it gets that tail moving nicely. It's a lot of fun retrieving this in the backyard pool so I can imagine what it's like to get some serious distance which will be tested sometime down the road as I plan to get back into a fishing Groove even though we're losing water like it's nobody's business down here in the Southwest.

Anyway back to the bait I think is a really fun bait I could see myself owning a few of these as Illude has a significant amount of patterns to choose from generally if you're lucky enough to get in on one of the drops.

Few more shots of this particular bait along with some other rat type lures for comparison quite a bit smaller than the XL lizard that I got on the last one sometime ago.

Sneak peak at yesterday's gear call. The 8'XXH VWE even has a name :big grin: ...thanks to Gabe at Bigg Nasty Baits for another Nat Rat.

Big thanks to the baddest gear broker around, Mr. Wood! Of course many thanks to all at Triple T for having the patience to continually deal with me :P They made my connections for the latest 2 VWE 4pc models(7'8"H & 8'XXH) =D>

So fiddled with the Snakeheader in the backyard pool. Still pretty hot for my arce to be getting out and doing any kind of serious angling I think the golden algae has been somewhat manageable from my understanding at least. Last I went out about a month or so ago and it was pretty bad it smelled like fish on the shoreline and lots of dead shad so that was enough for me to stay away for as long as I have at least for local Waters anyhow, that and temps. And I still pretty much do my majority from the shore or from a yak.

Anyway I tossed the somewhat hefty Nat rat on it and did some pitching with this Beast of a rod. Definitely is plastic rod. I throw right now is a 68 special and I'm almost certain this thing can go well beyond that and would be overkill for that particular bait. time will tell but a stout as it is, it still reacts and has a nice feel when retrieving the NAT rat in the backyard pool so I imagined getting some good distance on it it should be a nice Lively rod to fish with especially if you're a crank down fan as it still has some action in its tip although not as much as say the 7'11" XH(awsome lighter plastics and all around treble). I definitely see this being in a nice flathead catfishing setup for sure. I definitely like the full grip handle as I like them in their shorty sticks. When I get revved up to do some more serious angling when the weather is more to my enjoyment I'm going to throw extensively the 7-in bull gill and the 8-in bull shads on her as well as my Hiroshima countdown Billrilla and some 6" mag spoons in the 2.5oz range. Unfortunately I don't see myself throwing heavier Plastics on it I'm pretty happy with the 68 special as it doesn't wear me out too much and I throw that on the 7-11 xh as well as the recently procured Cookai 7'10. Hopefully someone down the pipeline will chime in with heavier plastic usage on this particular Rod but I don't see myself getting bigger into the Plastics game. I am pretty much trebles most of the time that's probably about 85% of my swimbaiting cause.

Side note I forgot to add I have one of my Ryoga 1520HL and 50lb PP mated with the Snakeheader

Also wanted to add this rod reminded me alot of Destroyer TS Black Jack(wished MB would have made it off set handled) It has been many moons since I had that rod, but the ferocity is very similar bewteen the two in that they feel like they can definitely fish beyond their respective specs IMHO though they are somewhat different spec wise. In my hands this seems like a rod for folks slinging the Deps 250s 8-)

Updated notes on Snakeheader 8/6/22:
Used the rod exclusively last night. Still pretty hot and muggy but shored it for a few hours at the "Can", still trying to get on a regular pattern of trips. This rod is Beast! I was throwing about a 3oz Toxic "Bugle Lips" all night. Though this rod is seems suited for bigger trebles say 4ish to 5 plus ounces this rod still does fine for lower weight ranges for a being practical for launching and retrieve of desired weight IMHO. It doesn't load up the best with anything lighter it still manages to lauch baits for distance with effort. It still maintains good sensitivity as I could feel yellows picking at my bait as well as feeling the action of the "Bugle Lips" on retrieve. I would be interested to see what the folks say about this rod with heavier Plastics and bigger trebles. About the most I will more than likely throw is my 4oz plus range of baits. Rest assured this is a dope stick. This would make a nice heavy junk/slop rod I would think although the tip isn't as lively as the 7'11" XH(that one is currently my do all rod fir how I currently SB). When I get out on yak more hopefully sooner I will test it out as Mag spoon rod.

Did up the Illude 1 piece Zombie Rat 8-) This edition was neat to find that this one came with triple coil rings which are pleasant to work with so I opted to keep them and like the proprietary tails enough to keep them as well.

Thanks as always to TT 8-) Cal and Zander as per usual set my path on over to make a stop at Trap Bass Baits. A Trap Rat is in the pipeline, but these two arrived, from the House Mouse series. Neat little morsels for sure :big grin:
