Hey fellas ,
I was wondering for those who have this rod or who have handled it would it a make a good light swimbait rod?
I’m looking for something to throw small swimbaits like a savage gear glide bait, occasional hudd, small umbrella rigs , big topwaters up to 2-3 oz etc. looking to pair it with a tranx 300 reel.
Thanks for any input
Shimano Expride 7’11 Xh casting rod.

it has the right ratings, until you mention Hudd... unless you're talking about the 6" and not the 8"

That’s what I figured Cal, I just wanted some assurance before I pulled the trigger

I think you got the right idea.
S-Waver 168: Yes. S-Waver 200: No.
Hud 6 inch: Yes. Hud 8 inch: Nope!
Tournament Talon 6 inch: yes. Tournament Talon 7 inch: Maaaayyyybeeeeee...
I think a Tranx 300 might be oversized, though, definitely try it on the rod before committing. I use a 150 and 200 reels for this small SB rod. Tranx 300 goes on the 2-8oz and 3-10oz dedicated SB rods (Dobyns Champion XP 806 and 807 for me.)
