Noob needs advice for a backpacking fly combo.

Post by Matt L » Mon Aug 06, 2007 12:29 pm

Hey all,

I have been trying to figure out what I need to get for a fly fishing rod/reel combo to take backpacking. All the fishing I plan on doing will be in high lakes 6000 - 7800 ft in eastern oregon. I think I want a rod in 5 to 7 pieces to make it more packable.

I have been looking at the cabelas 5 and 7 piece CSR rod combos. I figure a 4 wt or 5 wt setup would be what is recommended and am leaning towards a 7 piece 5 wt 8ft rod but I would like some input from those with experience.

Much thanks,

Matt
