$100.00 Fly Rods? Reccommendations?

Post by Countdown » Sun Jul 31, 2005 1:41 pm

Hi everyone,

Just getting back into flyfishing after several years away from the fun! Am looking to spned about $100.00 on the fly rod itself. Does anyone have any experiences or reccommendations they could help me with? Am looking at Corland CL fly rods from Wal-Mart. Any other comments?

Check out http://flyfishamerica.com/ and their latest issue (available free online) has a review of 10 fly rods under $200. I have two of the rods reviewed, the $139 TFO ( 4 piece ) Professional and the $175 Sage Launch (2 - piece) . I really like both but the Sage is outstanding. I have heard nice things about the Echo fly rod listed as well.

I think TackleTour should review the Sage Launch and Sage Fli fly rods. They are very nice rods for the price.

Airrus supposedly makes and excellent fly rod.

Contact Tom Kirkman, the foremost Rodbuilding expert in the USA, and possibly the world. He owns and runs the largest internet rod building forum and the largest circulated rodbuidling magazine in the world. Also, probably the largest rod building trade show in the USA, if not the world.

He's got some equivalent to $400 fly rods almost in your range. A bit more but not much.

Tell him Mo sent you. Nah, I don't get anything out of it but would be nice for him to know that I appreciate all his work.
