Daiwa CV-S reel cover

Am I missing something here … supposedly, you can use this cover whilst the reel is attached to the rod but it doesn’t seem right.

It's a weird fit for sure, but I guess overall it serves it's purpose.

I have the Tackle Warehouse model but they’re getting pretty beat up. I had the Daiwa type when I had my Steezes but I never put them on the rod, I used the TWs.
We shall see.
