What a Surprise

Post by goldrod » Sat Jan 21, 2023 6:57 pm

I Imagine that with all the new goodies coming out a lot of people will be selling off some gear.
This is not the case for me. I’ve spent the last day cleaning out my closet and I have found some things I forgot I had. Lol

I have well over 30 rods stashed, several are new. I rediscover them from time to time when I go digging in the barn.
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

I found 2 Cortland casting rods in the rod corner. I think the story was they were a collaboration between Thorne Brothers and Cortland. They still have their plastic on the cork.
Anyone know anything about these? Brian.

Are you fishing or aimlessly casting around?

About the best thing I find new that I forgot about is a crank, swimbait, or bag of plastics I forgot to try.

Yup, I'm with you. If I found a rod or reel I forgot I had, I'd worry about me.

Not a surprise. My main reels are still Daiwa Steez from 15yrs ago and Dobyns rods from around the same era. I've tried to replace them (mostly, the rods) without much success. And, I still use 40+ years old lures from Heddon, which I bought, when I was 10yrs old. :-({|= The best lipless crankbait in this year so far is by far, the ones I bought for $3 each (because nobody was buying), and they are 25 years old.

Nothing the Big 2 are doing excites me anymore.

Their flair for fun and exciting JDM releases has gone away.

Everything is silver or black. Even special editions like the HD, Silver Wolf, limited, and Gekkabejjin...why not have some fun?

Rods are still somewhat fun but I got into building.

Today, I'm less and less interested in new reel releases as the tech has peaked and design has stalled.

I'm happier rebuilding my classics and buying new lures.
