need tips on getting 2 peice rod unstuck

i have a older 2 peice rod that has been in storage for some time the only problem is that it wont break down to 2 peices its stuck really bad it wont budge i hate to mess up the rod but if you have any tips on how to get it out let me know thanks len

to help...

1) sit in a chair

2) place the rod behind your knees parallel to the ground

3) put your knees together

4) grasp the rod firmly on either side of your legs with your hands up tight to your legs

5) slowly spread your knees apart and pull out with your hands at the same time

wd-40.

1) hold the rod upside down, spray downward into the crease...let set a minute.

2) don't try to pull the two apart...ain't gonna happen...twist the two parts against their axis...it will separate.

3) run like hell to the sink and wash the wd-40 off the two ends.

tad of wax on the ferrule and you're good to go.

I personally ice down the joint for a few minutes and then hit it with a hair dryer. The end of the rod usually expands enough to faciltate seperating the two pieces and you're good to go.

I had a steelhead rod stuck really bad over the winter, the only thing that worked was to use a piece of rubber to get a good grip on the tip end(I held the handle on the butt section). Hold the tip section near the ferrule with the rubber to grip with your arm fully extended. Twist with the other hand at the grip end.

Cold

Items shrink when they get cold. Some argue that you're shrinking your female ferrule down tighter onto the male ferrule but that is false. Rods are tubes and not solid rods so what happens is the wall thickness shrinks. The OD decreases and the ID increases.

Then do the trick with the knees.
