Re: What's your favorite NRX and why ?
873c but its the only nrx i have. I've fished the 894 and its nice and made me have to have a nrx but the 873 fits me better. I have a glx 893 and i feel the nrx 873 blows it away. I alos have a conquest 903 that i like but still prefer the 873
Re: What's your favorite NRX and why ?
893c is the best bottom contact rod on the planet in my opinion. I can feel when fish are just swimming by or nosing around. Have set the hook several times and snagged the fish.
Re: What's your favorite NRX and why ?
893c is SPECIAL & I have hooked plenty of bass outside the mouth. I have the green model & running 12lb pline tactical. What line are you using on your 893?
Re: What's your favorite NRX and why ?
I did not look through all history of this 4year old thread but I likely posted. It appears to me many NRX rods are great and it depends on where and how you fish. The morning after Trump was elected I caught like 100 large mouth and my first double digit. about a year later on a cold Dec day I caught one that looked like it would eat the 10# and I've had several nice fish since. You get attached to that rod.
That Rod is the NRX 894. taking nothing away from my 893 or the 873 and 803's I once fished.
What I like about the 894 over 893 is the stouter tip. the 894 is great a presenting light baits into moderate to heavy cover like a laydown or under a dock. The 893 is a more open water rod to me more suited for 12# FC line

I currently have braid with a floro leader but really don't think the braid is needed on the 893. I don't use straight floro ever. If not a braid, I use Sunline Shooter Defier. Best nylon mono our there.

I switch between 12 and 15 Tatsu on my 893. Mostly 15 because I normally fish heavier cover than I should with it.

With the 893 I can damn near do everything with that rod. I’ll take 4 of those and 2 894 and I’d be set honestly minus finesse and some other niche techniques.

Re: What's your favorite NRX and why ?
Unfortunately I only have 2 nrx’s and 3 glx’s but from fishing the glx’s I could only imagine how nice they’d be in the nrx.
I currently have an 853c and 852s. Between the two I love that 852s. I’ve thrown tubes, hair jigs, flukes, senko’s, drop shot, shakey head, larger ned rigs, spybaits, jerkbaits! I specifically like it for senko’s and other worms!
The 853c makes great for more of a finesse jig rod, to a 3/8 jig rod. Surprising in a pinch I had excellent luck with a 75 whopper plopper and smaller poppers on it as well when I forgot my main top water rod. Makes a great lighter t-rig rod, larger worms, larger flukes, heavier shakey heads.
I have the 894c, 822s dsr and 852c in the glx. Love the 852c there as well for jerks, and makes for a nice tube rod! The 894c is my main jig rod and that 822 dsr is wicked! I wish I had that in the nrx for sure. That rod has such a great tip and can detect every bite, swim by and almost stare at lol. Once you set that hook it loads up and keeps those fish pinned and have never lost one! I love that rod!

My favorite NRX was the 1st one I got when released, ive had every single nrx and tested all of them! There's not a single one I dislike but my favorite and imo the best rod loomis ever made was the 902s.
This fits all my smallmouth bass fishing light line finesse techniques to perfection. Im still amazed by its greatness ever after all these years!

Favorite is a 901s for hair. 902s spy bait. 822 dsr, 872s for tubes all for smallmouth. Still dialing in the entire Conquest spin lineup.

Re: What's your favorite NRX and why ?
My favorite is the one I used then didnt buy. After all the hype, I expected lightning bolts to shoot out of the tip and God to speak in an audible voice. It was very sensitive, but it honestly underwhelmed me for what it cost. Plus, I HATE recoil guides, so there's that.
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

Favorite Casting the 893c, I love throwing unweighted senkos and this is the best rod I've fished to date for that technique. It is also an amazing light/med jig rod.
Favorite spinning is the 872s. When fishing big clear waters this thing will launch light jigs and the extra length helps avoid hang-ups on the rocks, hook sets, and controlling big smallies. A very close second is the 822 dsr. It is an amazing vertical drop shot rod.
