Legend Elite Brown?
Legend Elite Brown?
Came across somebody selling a 7' LECMHF St. Croix legend Elite with a brown blank. Is there a big diff btwn this older model and the new ones? Any thoughts on market value or inappropriate to ask that?

Might be the salt version
Re: Legend Elite Brown?
There's not a huge difference. Technology has gotten better over time, but those older rods still fish great. A lot of folks still prefer the old brown blanks. They had "it," I guess.

Re: Legend Elite Brown?
Not a huge difference. St. Croix has added some new technology and changed the taper slightly. But, its still an outstanding blank.

2nd Gen SCV LE...and IMO, the prettiest and best built among all the gens. Honestly, in my eyes, one of the cleanest U.S. factory built bass rods.
FWIW, fishes more like a heavy powered Loomis or Dobyns, etc.

Agreed...they are beautiful. Orange and gold reels look sublime on those sticks.

Great rods.
Actually they do...first SCV to have both ART and IPC.
Re: Legend Elite Brown?
Very good blanks.I sure wish I could find one thats 6'6" ,1/16-5/16, 4-8lb line. I have a 6' version of this blank and have caught literally thousands of white bass with it. St Croix discontinued the 5/16 blanks with the update after the brown SCV's. great blanks.

I stand corrected. My memory must be going.dragon1 wrote:civicrr wrote:The brown blanks didn't use the IPC or ART technology. http://stcroixrods.com/why-st-croix/technology/

An article dated 11/15/04 http://tackletour.com/reviewstcroix2005.html talks about the IPC and the new ART being used in the 2005 line of rods.

Re: Legend Elite Brown?
That's the 2005 legend elite. Absolutely beautiful rod, one of the best looking rods ever imo. (I'm partial to brown & green blanks).

It's kind of funny, st Croix went from making the best looking rods on the market to making the ugliest rods on the market. Looking at the new rods vs the old, it makes me wonder if they fired the lead designer along the way...
Edit: here's the only list of 2005 LE models/specs I could find.

If not, PM me his contact info

Re: Legend Elite Brown?
Couldn't be more correct IMHO. I went from being a huge Croix guy to trying other brands because the newer ones are just not appealing no matter how well the blank fishes. I'd happily buy the brown SCV rods.spookybaits wrote:That's the 2005 legend elite. Absolutely beautiful rod, one of the best looking rods ever imo. (I'm partial to brown & green blanks).

Re: Legend Elite Brown?
I sadly agree w/ Matt that the newer Croixs' just don't have that look and feel like the older models. I'm still fishin'
a 7'0"Legend Elite MF as well as a 6'0" Legend Elite MF , both with the gorgeous brown blank and marbled reel seat.
Will never part with these treasures, sure hope St. Croix stays on the forefront, still a fan. I would like to fish
the Legend Extreme to experience that funky portion of the rod they call the reel seat.
