I find the silver surfer styling looks cheezy and cheap, I much prefer this new dark grey or the ninja style of the kages.
Tatula Signature Series
Re: Tatula Signature Series
Nice catch!
what's the actual lure weight range within its comfort zone? Spec says it's only up to 5/8oz, even for the H model only up to 3/4oz, makes me scratch my head...
Re: Tatula Signature Series
Around 5/8 seems to be comfort zone and it feels like 1oz will be pushing it. My initial thought is tip section was soft and moderate overall but it feels about right for a long fast action rod and has good backbone. Sensitivity is good enough, of course it's not as sharp as higher end rods but I'm not missing anything.

Re: Tatula Signature Series
those 2 7'5 rods are pretty confusing on specs and description. for me, small jig would fall under a mh and football jig would fall under h power.
i am thinking about picking up the h power rod for 1/2oz + jigs & c-rigs. i've been using a 7'4 steez xt frog rod, but think i'd like to try something different

Re: Tatula Signature Series
I currently own a 7'3" H Pitchin' (Takahiro Omori, 2017-2022 model). I love that rod - specifically the soft tip and how it seems quite versatile, and the very powerful and deep backbone.
I am looking at picking up two of the 7'1" H "skipping jig" models from the same vintage. Has anyone fished both of these models? How is the tip of the 7'1" as compared to the 7'3"?
Main techniques for all of these: paddletail swimbaits (5") in cover, 3/8 to 1/2oz texas rigs, 1/2oz jigs (8-15' deep)... backup open-water frog rod.

Re: Tatula Signature Series
i have the 7'1 h. it makes a very good frog rod, and it'll be fine for that range of jigs. i originally got it for jigs, but the 7'1 h steez xt i have is just a little softer, and works better for skipping 3/8oz.

Jason, thanks!Jason Penn wrote: ↑Thu Mar 30, 2023 8:47 ami have the 7'1 h. it makes a very good frog rod, and it'll be fine for that range of jigs. i originally got it for jigs, but the 7'1 h steez xt i have is just a little softer, and works better for skipping 3/8oz.
Have you fished the Tatula (non-Elite) 7'3" MHF rod? Is it softer or stiffer than the 7'1" H elite?
And for the 7'1" H elite, have you thrown bladed jigs or paddletail swimbaits (light belly weighted) in/around cover? If so, how did it perform? If not, what do you think it would be like?

Re: Tatula Signature Series
no i haven't fished the regular tatula line. the elite 7'1 wouldn't have any problems with either of those baits in my opinion. it's not a super fast blank

Re: Tatula Signature Series
i should probably have said depending on weight of those baits. i don't throw swimbaits much, and it's always on at least a 3/8oz head.
Re: Tatula Signature Series
The bait alone is 1/2oz, so about 3/4 with hook and belly weight.Jason Penn wrote: ↑Thu Mar 30, 2023 1:21 pmi should probably have said depending on weight of those baits. i don't throw swimbaits much, and it's always on at least a 3/8oz head.

Re: Tatula Signature Series
Looks like the older generation rods are going on sale here and there. I picked up the 6’9” skipping jig rod feels like a medium heavy plus. I’m thinking small frogs on braid ,swim jig, heavy spinner bait, see how well it handles super spook size top water. Looking forward to some comparisons with the new models. Does anyone else think it’s worth scooping up the outgoing ones?
Re: Tatula Signature Series
I now have 3 of these rods. 1 Takahiro Omori 7'3" heavy. It's a stellar rod and really versatile.A42pb2 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 26, 2023 8:26 amLooks like the older generation rods are going on sale here and there. I have 2 of the 7'1" Andy Montgomery skipping jig rods. They're nearly the same rod as the Omori but a bit shorter. Equally as stellar!
I use all 3 for various techniques: skipping and pitching double wide weightless Beavers. Long bombing reaction innovations skinny dippers. Chatterbaits. Even light duty flipping early season mats. No issues with anything.
