Best rod to pair with Steez CT ?

Post by nightcrawler » Tue May 19, 2020 9:26 am

I am considering NRXs mostly 893c or 853c.
Feel free to shoot any suggestions.

It pairs up awfully nicely with a Steez Racing Design 71MH/H

There are so many good options out there for either the 6 ratio or the 8. The Steez AGS 71MHXF is a great choice for closer quarters pitching jigs/plastics and makes a really nice Senko rod. I have one on the Steez AGS 72MHRB as an all around moving bait set up that I really enjoy fishing.

They feel great on many of the Megabass line up as well. I'll be checking out some of the new Destroyer P5 rods later this week and I have a couple Steez CT's that will be going on them...

Thanks for the tip, I will definitely look into them. At first, I was considering these steez rods but there were just awfully too many variations/models and I could really use your advice on them.
Also, I got the new 7.1:1 ratio which makes it hard to find other combos to look at.

I have mine paired up with a GLX 842c and it's incredible. I use it for 1/16 and 1/8 oz jigs, and small topwaters like Ricos.

I have mine on a Western Flip. Great outfit for smaller T-Rigs or flylined Senkos.

What do you plan to use the rod for mostly? People can suggest every rod under the sun....

Nothing in particular, I just wanted to see what people have paired with this reel (length and strength-wise).
I'll probably end up getting a high-end rod that w.e my favorite shops are offering decently right now..

Steez Racing Design 641ML+ Super Metal Top. I use mine for drop shot, shakeyhead, weightless flukes, or 4" wacky senkos depending what other rods I bring out. Super fun combo.

Hi, I ended up getting that exact rod after checking your suggestion out. =D> Can't wait to go out to the lake with this combo. Which line and weight(both lead and main) do you have on them?

Congrats! I’m sure you will enjoy it. Since most of my rods are 7’ I was skeptical of buying such a short rod at first. After fishing it I changed my mind right away. The past few trips it’s been hard to put down. It’s a winner.

I have 10 lb sniper on mine, and I run it straight. I fish in current and have to adjust my weights from 3/16-3/8. Plenty of line capacity and it’s light enough to use on all those techniques for me, but strong enough to use around cover.

This rod and the 610ml+Shallow Cover Finesse have similar power and are both fun and awesome rods. Both have been getting a good workout lately with 5” wacky senkos on the 610, and drop shot robo worms and easy shakers on shakey headed on the 641. The fish have been slamming the lighter stuff around here.

I hope to hear how you like it after you get it out a few times.

I have one paired with a MB X7 Super Eiger with 8lb flouro. I throw a 4" senko a lot on it but its also great for small texas rigs. I have a 2nd paired with a custom rod (medium power) that is used for jerkbaits. I have a 3rd paired with a Phenix K2 medium light that I have been using for smaller jerkbaits. It's my favorite reel. I did put 90mm handles on all of them.

I currently have my Steez CT on a Megabass Destroyer Carbonhead Bandersnatch and it's been working pretty well. Looks amazing too :P
