Mostly throwing 1/32 and 1/15 lately. I know what you mean on the 822s SYR. It works in a pinch, but still a bit much for the really lite stuff. The 821s is your rod. Hard to describe in words but it just has a great ratio of sensitivity, soft tip , and backbone. It was made for the NED rig and for that it is great I my book.oops wrote: ↑Sun Jun 06, 2021 11:52 pmThanks for sharing your experience with this rod! What weight rigs have you been throwing with it and did the rod feel good with all of them? Been throwing a 1/10oz ned tons for the past week or so and it has become the first thing I reach for but the 822s SYR I've been using just feels like too much rod for it. Wish I could find a place with this rod in stock because I am dying to buy it and would really like to have it while the wide open bite in my area is still going on.Jrob wrote: ↑Sun Jun 06, 2021 5:53 pmI was able to spend quality time with the NRX+ 821s NRR (ned rig rod) the last two weeks. So thankful Gloomis made this rod! If you love fishing a Ned rig as much as I do you will love this rod. Very sensitive rod as expected with NRX. The rod has a perfect light tip that transitions to a solid backbone at about mid rod. The ability to protect lighter line and move a solid fish has been impressive. I have only used the rod with Ned rigs so far. I feel it will serve my all around finesse needs as well.
I love it enough I have two now. Haha.

Re: Confirmed new Nrx coming out !!
I also got a new NRX+ today
Mine is the 901 SJR and I have the old model 901 SJR
The grip is way nicer IMO, I personally can't tell the difference in the blank although the newer version is a bit
more responsiveand recovers faster.
I will miss the blue on each guide myself I do like the hook hanger location, sometimes my line would get stuck on the older version hook keeper.
Will see soon if I can feel the difference when fishing them both, but the 901 was already superior is sensitivity.
The balance of the plus version is better and the rod is lighter.

Anyone got a weight for either a 873 or 894/895?
Re: Confirmed new Nrx coming out !!
The weight on the 873CRR is 4.2 ounces.

Re: Confirmed new Nrx coming out !!
Very interested in this rod for walleye, pitching lighter jigs and Ned rigs first, smallies doing the same, second. Have you fished a GLX 820 DS rod to compare the action, by chance? I would really like G.Loomis to dabble on the 0 power a little more! I know there are a few of us on here, but probably not enough to be heard…Jrob wrote: ↑Sun Jun 06, 2021 5:53 pmI was able to spend quality time with the NRX+ 821s NRR (ned rig rod) the last two weeks. My wish list would be a 820NRR and a 900SJR to accompany their well filled-out line-up.
They ever go and offer their Steelhead IMX line-up in NRX+ and you’d likely read my post about getting divorced
Re: Confirmed new Nrx coming out !!
I know this is a long shot but has anyone that was not particularly a fan of the old NRX put some time in with the NRX+?
I was definitely in the camp that thought the nrx finish was lackluster, the balance way too tip heavy, and the backbone wasn’t always there when I wanted it to come in for lower powered models.
Considering that, am I setting myself up for disappointment again? Or is the NRX+ finally the bees knees I’ve been asking for?

Re: Confirmed new Nrx coming out !!
likely not.
but 90% of anglers I spoke to felt the NRX was the "bees knees".
If you were disappointed with any faction of the NRX, aside from the pathetic reel seat, you are going to be disappointed.
30% more cost. certainly NOT 30% more quality.
edit: i see here in Canada the NRX+ is 50% more cost than the last iteration.
damn.
that's ridiculous.

Re: Confirmed new Nrx coming out !!
Reel seats and hook-keeper placement were very high on my dislike list for the original NRX’s. I’m back interested again, especially with the new 821NRR offering.
Re: Confirmed new Nrx coming out !!
I'm not sure how you arrive at those numbers. The old 822 DSR, for instance, was $550, the new one is $625. That's 114%, or a 14% price increase. I'm not going to argue whether the new models warrant that extra money, but it helps to have our numbers straight. And hey, no more pathetic reel seats!SteveSchmelzle wrote: ↑Tue Jun 22, 2021 4:56 amlikely not.
