Re: Confirmed new Nrx coming out !!
I pulled the trigger on a 872 after hearing all the sponsored Shimano/Loomis guys tell me in person that it’s their go to. I have a 3000 Certate that is going on it.

Good choice sir. I’ve posted of it for eons on here. Tremendously versatile smallmouth rod. It’s been good to me.HobeyBaker wrote: ↑Fri Jun 25, 2021 8:06 pmI pulled the trigger on a 872 after hearing all the sponsored Shimano/Loomis guys tell me in person that it’s their go to. Another is a GLX 892c, that damn rod is a sleeper.TravisNY wrote: ↑Fri Jun 25, 2021 8:30 pmGood choice sir. I’ve posted of it for eons on here. Tremendously versatile smallmouth rod. Drakestar wrote: ↑Tue Jun 22, 2021 5:20 pmI'm not sure how you arrive at those numbers. The old 822 DSR, for instance, was $550, the new one is $625. That's 114%, or a 14% price increase. I'm not going to argue whether the new models warrant that extra money, but it helps to have our numbers straight. And hey, no more pathetic reel seats!SteveSchmelzle wrote: ↑Tue Jun 22, 2021 4:56 amlikely not.
but 90% of anglers I spoke to felt the NRX was the "bees knees".
If you were disappointed with any faction of the NRX, aside from the pathetic reel seat, you are going to be disappointed.
30% more cost. certainly NOT 30% more quality.
edit: i see here in Canada the NRX+ is 50% more cost than the last iteration.
damn.
that's ridiculous.
In CAD funds, where I am, the old nrx was $559 to $629 depending on model. Nrx+ is $849 to $929.

Mine is the 901 SJR and I have the old model 901 SJR
The grip is way nicer IMO, I personally can't tell the difference in the blank although the newer version is a bit
more responsiveand recovers faster.
I will miss the blue on each guide myself I do like the hook hanger location, sometimes my line would get stuck on the older version hook keeper.
Will see soon if I can feel the difference when fishing them both, but the 901 was already superior is sensitivity.
The balance of the plus version is better and the rod is lighter.
Purchased the same combo tonight. 901s + Stella FJ. I am very familiar with the “old” 901s but have been longing for that handle for years on NRX.
It’ll fit in well with my fleet of Conquests/Stella FJ’s.

Re: Confirmed new Nrx coming out !!
I put a 3000 Certate LT on the 872 and it balances great. It has a lot more tip than the original 852 that I'm offloading to help pay for it.
Re: Confirmed new Nrx coming out !!
Thinking about selling my extra old 893c and getting something to fish 5" senkos/flukes from shore since the extra length on the 893/894 is a hindrance when fishing soft jerkbaits tip down, what would you guys recommend? Thinking the 852c for more of an all around rod that I'm hoping has enough power for good hooksets. Love my 842c for paddle tails in open water but it's underwhelming to say the least for bottom contact in general and around any meaningful structure.
Also, bought a member's extra 821s NRR and paired it with a new Vanquish 2500 SHG. Really amazing combo. Had a couple days throwing 1/10 and 1/15oz ned and another day with weightless 3" sluggos and was really happy with how it fished them compared to my 822s SYR

Re: Confirmed new Nrx coming out !!
Long shot but anyone have the 853 or 854c jwc? Been thinking about getting an NRX for a long time, however hear so many different opinions on the previous version. Are the updated NRX+ versions that much better?

Re: Confirmed new Nrx coming out !!
I just bought the GLX 854...cost as much as my first NRX, but it made more sense.
Fished it two weeks straight..and hard. I like the rod enough that I may not consider another NRX purchase (especially an NRX+)
I'd still grab a used 893c or 873crr NRX if the price was right.

Re: Confirmed new Nrx coming out !!
I hear so many people say the 854 is dead in the hands and its the least sought after model. However, the length and action is exactly what I am looking for. Would you say the 854 fishes well for what its suppose to do?SteveSchmelzle wrote: ↑Mon Jul 19, 2021 1:54 pmI just bought the GLX 854...cost as much as my first NRX, but it made more sense.

Re: Confirmed new Nrx coming out !!
Yep. Does not feel dead in my hands. I use it for slightly heavier jigs than my 893 would allow for.
I probably would have bought another 873CRR (which is probably a better rod than the 854) but again, costs and availability.
I actually like the shorter 854 vs the 873. It's accurate for my pitching needs. I'm happy with the purchase.

FYI. American Legacy Fishing has more 902s sjr and 821s nrr in stock now. These have been hard to find. Hope those that have wanted some can jump on it. Love mine!
Re: Confirmed new Nrx coming out !!
Using straight fluoro/copoly on my 852's, I dont like setting the hook at all. Used my 803s today instead of my 852 to fish creek smallies. Last trip with the 852, I missed a couple of fish that ran with my bait while using a t-rigged 3.5" d bomb. Stuck every t-rigged bite today, and the 3 power wasnt too stiff to handle my slider worm which also kicked tail today.oops wrote: ↑Thu Jul 08, 2021 3:24 pmThinking about selling my extra old 893c and getting something to fish 5" senkos/flukes from shore since the extra length on the 893/894 is a hindrance when fishing soft jerkbaits tip down, what would you guys recommend? 803s is a very versatile NRX.
To be honest my 802s, 803s, and 804s get a ton of work.
