I would advise against selling the x-ray until you have used it side by side with its hopeful replacement.Hawk82 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 23, 2021 1:42 pmOk, thanks for the feedback. I did see the responses earlier in the thread but nobody had fished the same action and line of rod in the two different years (2019 & 2021). I have both in the ML Spinning version and debating on selling the X-Ray. I won’t be able to fish the new one until Spring to compare.

Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.
Re: Kistler rods?
True. For what it’s worth, AFAIK there aren’t any blank differences between the ‘19 and ‘20 Zbones, both are the same X-ray. So I’m comparing Kistler’s highest-end 2019 733 blank and 2021 703 blank in the posts above. Just one opinion, though, sadly we haven’t had other users post experiences yet (minus Cal’s actual TT review of the 6’10” ML, of course).Hawk82 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 23, 2021 1:42 pmOk, thanks for the feedback. Re: Kistler rods?
Yes, understood. I am asking for a comparison of 19/20 Z-bone to 21 Z-bone.
Re: Kistler rods?
Have a 6’ 9” Argon MH and I am not a fan. Tip just doesn’t load at all; way too stiff for my liking.
Re: Kistler rods?
The new Helium/Zbone blank is the same way, it has no tip. Of course the older X-ray blank was quite moderate in how it loads up, as well, but I never had an issue with that tip.
Re: Kistler rods?
Might be able to use it as a short frog rod or 1/2 oz jig stick. I have a Lews Hank Parker MH like that and found that super stiff tip allows the MH rod to work baits I would normally prefer a H.
