Your most versatile rod?
Re: Your most versatile rod?
Yessir, the 903 was not a model that GLoomis had at the time that I stopped buying their factory rods...that was way back during the OG MBR 842 and BCR 803 era.
I have read a lot of glowing reviews on this rod.

7’ st croix avid x med/fast: senkos, shaky, neko, wacky, light t-rigs, topwater, jerkbait, shallow & medium sqbills (in grass). Just a great versatile taper
This rod is on my short list of next rods, I’m hoping to mainly use it for 1/2 to 1 oz square bills in grass. Is this the one rated 1/2-2oz lures? It loads up ok with 3/8oz?Johnny A wrote: ↑Sun May 07, 2023 6:08 am2. Actually, I went to an EG Wild Shooter which is rated to 3 oz. I'm trying to figure the best way to put it. I have the O.S.P. EX DR Magnum Blitz, a 1 5/8 oz bait and I think it overpowers the Tatula by a lot. On the other hand, the EG rod still has plenty of power to spare with the Magnum Blitz.sbd3 wrote: ↑Fri May 12, 2023 4:00 pm7’ st croix avid x med/fast: senkos, shaky, neko, wacky, light t-rigs, topwater, jerkbait, shallow & medium sqbills (in grass). Re: Your most versatile rod?
At first I thought that's what you were saying but when I reread it, it seemed different to me. Anyway, 3/8ths is perfect for that rod. I haven't seen the 2023 rods yet, if there was anything beyond cosmetic changes. I've caught LMB up to 8 lbs on the Elite and a lot in the 4-7 lb range.sbd3 wrote: ↑Fri May 12, 2023 4:50 pmI was referring to 3/8oz lures on the Daiwa Signature Elite 7' Tak glass rod.Johnny A wrote: ↑Fri May 12, 2023 4:36 pmActually, I went to an EG Wild Shooter which is rated to 3 oz. Re: Your most versatile rod?
NRX+ 854c, my not be my most versatile but I own 4 of them for a reason.
Re: Your most versatile rod?
I would guess that the "most versatile" also falls in line with the bodies of water fished.
I have several very versatile rods, but for different types of waters... wide open, close-mid range, target casting, confined spaces, etc. I think this is as important as what type of lures/techs these rods can handle.

Re: Your most versatile rod?
Well, my top four for mid to longish casts.
Custom mahogany blank GLoomis CBR 845
Evergreen Heracles EG Swimming
Evergreen TKIC Super Stallion
Megabass 30th Anniversary Super Diablo II
Rods in the 7'5"-8'0" range are a different set of animals altogether, as are close quarters rods and ones needed for quick jerking movement type baits.

Re: Your most versatile rod?
Braid + leader moving power techs, great for 3/8-3/4 oz chatters/spinnerbaits/buzzbaits, 1/2-1 oz topwaters, 1/2-1 oz lipless, 1/2-1 oz shallow-mid depth cranks (Buzzjet as well). I have paired it with an OG Zillion platforms to an OG Fuego, and prefer a 36 mm spool with it with a bit heavier weight reel in the 7oz + range. This rod is very much like the GLoomis CBR series, but more like a 6.5-7 power in a 7'2" length, and of course with Evergreen fit and finish. It's an acquired taste, but man this rod really is a do it all for braid+leader and most open treble and single hooks moving baits for me.
Hite uses this rod with braid+leader for his bigger Evergreen JT and other walking baits as well.

So curious how this rod compares to the Steezm/mh "The Sensor".MeatHead wrote: ↑Wed Jan 13, 2021 4:55 pmHave unfortunately had limited trips with it since getting it for Christmas, but the few trips I've been able to make I've got to say my Tatula Elite 7' MMH AGS. Haven't got close to throwing near the top end of its range yet but pleasantly surprised how well it threw my usual 1/8oz jighead and 3 inch curltail grub/paddle tail swimbait combo for shallow water flounder and redfish. Handled 1/4oz Z-man chatterbaits and spinnerbaits with trailer easily too.
Re: Your most versatile rod?
Daiwa Whisker Salmon 9` (270cm) 10-40g. It's my heavy seatrout boat rod. It's actually salmon rod, but it's not bad for trout either. It cast's good, it is nearly too stiff for trout. It's not parabolic action, it's more moderate action, but still not bad for trout. Moreover it's good rod for pike fishing and casts good anything in 20 - 40 g range. Moreover to that there's silly big front grip, which I didn't get which is idea of it, but my friend explained: It's salmon rod for Scotland rivers - same rod can be used for baitcasting reel and for fly reel, one rod is enough . Naturally it's not great for casting fly line, but I can believe it can cast it. That's a lot of versatility

G Loomis GLX 852c jwr nice finesse tip I go down to 8#fc 3/16 no problem with aldebaran 30. Up to 15# with a metainium all kinds of reaction baits and of course jig/worm. I own a Glx 843 and 844 but the 852c can pull off some spinning rod duty. In the summertime with grass 844 all day
