Re: Shimano Poison Ultima Baitcasting 1610L-BFS
It's a very nice finesse bottom contact rod. I haven't fished lately, but it has a crisp tip with good backbone. I mainly use it with 2.75" tubes on a 1/8 oz hook or a heavier 1/16 - 3/32 oz ned rigs. It was also a blast fishing with 1/4 oz Deraspin and Derabuzz. I've tried it with smaller jerkbaits (Duo 85 minnow and pointer 65sp), but I prefer those on my old pixy rod. The Pixy rod has a fast action, with a softer tip and it's a little more versatile. I really enjoy fishing with the Poison Ultima BFS, and it was a blast bring in a 20" smallie in strong current (pic below). Hope this helps.

Thank You very much.
I got some of the same information earlier. I’ll try and source the rod in the next couple months. Seems like something I need to give a try

I've been looking at this rod as well. Does anyone know how this compares to Steez RD 631ML FB or the NRX 802C that I'm currently using for 1/8 - 3/16 jigs/tubes

Re: Shimano Poison Ultima Baitcasting 1610L-BFS
It's going to be lower in power than the NRX 802C, and I believe the 1610L would be too weak to handle a 3/16 jig or a normal 3.5"sized tube. The rod can handle a Molix Nano jig or a keitech guard spin jig.
Last year, I lost my dedicated tube rod to the river. It was a Dobyns Champion Extreme 702c, and I just replaced it today with a slightly used Steez Harrier F-Spec. I'm hoping it acts similar to an NRX 852c.

Looks amazing. Thank you for sharing.

The nrx 852c is my fav bfs rod. That thing can throw down to 1/16oz and the backbone softens up and bends down the bank when you hook a fish!Schlag wrote: ↑Wed Mar 31, 2021 11:56 amIt's going to be lower in power than the NRX 802C, and I believe the 1610L would be too weak to handle a 3/16 jig or a normal 3.5"sized tube. The PU is just a sexy , exquisitely looking rod that not easy to acquire and harder to stomach the price. It’s on my list for surepaulito wrote: ↑Sun Apr 11, 2021 11:50 pmThe nrx 852c is my fav bfs rod. Re: Shimano Poison Ultima Baitcasting 1610L-BFS
I own the rod, however I would rate it 5-16g and ML, using mostly for skipping 5" Senkos and other plastics with 0.26mm fluorocarbon line.
Re: Shimano Poison Ultima Baitcasting 1610L-BFS
Once I got over the price, I'm glad that I did.
I love throwing buzzbaits like the 1/8 Picasso buzzsaw jr and the pop-x with it.
Also, works great w/small keitech's on a scrounger head/keitech round head jig.
Rod is super sensitive for vertical techniques--I drop shot with it as well as small jigs/worms/ned rigs/wacky rigs.
For my tastes, I think that 5" senkos are a little much on the rod, prefer the 4" versions.
Best BFS rod that I've used.
