Tulala Rods

Post by Slazmo » Mon Jun 07, 2021 9:42 pm

Saw this on IG...

Anyone have any idea with the guide setup? Is like a swap around mid section piece for different height bait aster reels or something?

So lost!

The initial tester models began showing up on IG about a year ago. I think Kenta Kimura might have been helping in design if I recall. This might be what they were calling the straw setting. From what I remember reading back then via somewhat garbled google translate, it had to do with increased sensitivity, particularly with PE lines because of the intimate contact between line and blank. Read some pretty strong claims. I was intrigued the first time I saw it and I’m an absolute sucker for something new and different. Finally, the two more standard tulala rods I have are gems at a bargain price so this crazy thing has nothing but promise.

I picked up a new Tailwalk Fullrange C65M yesterday - the build is sharp and clean. If it's any credit to the Japanese with their ingenuity and technology and futuristic foresight.

I just can't grasp how the rod works and Google translate as you say is just garbled. Finding much about that guide set-up is non existent. I really would like to know more, if anyone finds anything or can link it'd be appreciated.

So, I found this article that describes the guide train. I still can't figure out if the line zig-zags to keep constant tension on the line (eliminating slack) or what, but it looks like an acid wrap right at the lock nut. They call it HD because it depicts sensitivity in high definition. Check the link out.

There's some weird stuff going on and the Japanese to English translation completely destroyed it altogether.

From this point you can see what the lines doing, its a very interesting concept!

I’m sorry but this just looks silly.
Kind of like that one time, in my teens, when I was setting up a telescopic rod after way too much beer
