Hey guys, how does the new 7 M F spinner feel vs the old model. I remember the blue/black model being almost a MH feel. Does the compile feel the same in power? Thanks!!

I can’t comment on the old 7m spinner

But I love the new 71 Medium Utility Spin Rod

It’s an outstanding spinning rod. One of my favorite spinning rods to date. So much so my second one shows up tomorrow:)

As popular as the 76 is from the original I like the 71m Utility rod over it

Fits me and what I like to fish better but I use it for mostly inshore. Caught some nice sea trout on it already

The 71m rod has a stiffer tip than the original 76, i don't have the new 76 nor do i plan to buy one, i'll just use my original.

Super light in hand. Throw an exist on it and it’s truly amazing

Feels like a natural extension of your body. Cast where you look.

What are you wanting to throw or use it on ?

I’m not sure if I’m reading your post correctly. Are you saying the new 76 has a stiffer tip? I think that’s part of the reason why I love the old ones.

I was referring to the 7'-0" M F but I am also ordering the 7'-6" and this is super helpful. Were you talking about the 7-6 only or you do like the 7' also. I will be buying all the spinning at some pt. but starting with the 7-6 and 7-1 M. Appreciate the help!

Sorry for the confusion

I was referencing the new 71m Utility Spin

Don't get me wrong the 76 is a fabulous rod, but for me and what i want to throw on a spinning rod I found the tip too soft, now for others especially those up north the 76 will be the one ;) just depends on what you want to do.

the new 71 lives up to its name as a utility spinning rod, when you look at the description and techniques :shaky head/ light texas rig/ senko/ light jig

I feel this rod fits these to a T. So far I have been throwing soft single hook jerkbaits, small paddletail swimbaits and light texas rigs and even some traditionally treble hooked jerkbaits on mine. but i don't drop shot or really fish finesse. I want a spinning rod for windy days and throwing lighter baits.

the rod has really worked well for me, but again i mainly fish inshore, so i need a spinning rod that can drive a single hook into something with a harder mouth like a redfish, but then also be soft enough to fight and play out a seatrout or snook with a softer mouth and not rip the hooks out. this rod is doing that. it does kinda remind me of the windbuster if you have fished that rod, just feels better in the hand.

this thing also bombs it out there, i was a little worried about the 71 and loose distance, but with the lighter ygk sinking braid i can bomb out a 1/8oz weighted 4inch soft fluke styled jerkbait.

so much so that the other night while night fishing dock lights, I kept having to move the boat closer for my partner to be able to reach the lights.

The 71 and 76 definitely compliment each other and pair nicely together, again its all in what you throw and what you want the rod to do.

Very helpful. I also inshore fish and I bet the 7-1 is a beast. Can't wait to get one now. I would be fishing jerkbaits as well. Now you have me thinking I need two lol

ha ha, yeah it would be a good rod for sure, i don't know if i would call it a beast, just a great all around rod.

i used to fish 2 of the p5 windbusters but sold them for the 71m.

I would grab the last 69mh casting rod that gary has too, its a great inshore casting rod, then add the 73mh and you will be all set up for anything.

I know its not one of the more exciting models, but who has gotten to fish the STAGS74XHFB Extra Heavy Cover Special? Been looking for a partner to go with my SV103XS and am considering this one, just wish it had a full grip.

They're all exciting having fished them all!

The 74XH Heavy Cover Special is a great jig/worm/plastics rod in and around cover. It has a deeper flex to the blank which also makes it a fantastic heavy cover frog rod. I've thrown big worms in deep water, pitched/punched up to 1oz. in grass, fished oversized football jigs offshore, thrown larger paddle tail jighead swim baits, and even tossed some of the Megabass BIG M baits around on it. It will pair very nicely with your SV103XS. I've switched between a Steez A and a Zillion HD on mine.

Can’t anyone compare power wise with any of the Nrx models; mainly the 873, 893 & 894.

I've got several NRX's and a few St. Croix's. I've never liked the shorter buts on the casting rods of the Loomis rods I own...by buts I mean the length between the but of the rod and where the reel is locked down. If anyone's in the know, are these buts longer than Loomis equivalents? If so, details on how much? Wish I could hold one or two...If so I wouldn't ask.
And...I'm getting impression these are "slower" blanks. Am I incorrect in this assumption? I like a faster tip.
Appreciate the input.

Has anyone heard an ETA on the second batch? I pre-ordered during the classic and still waiting on mine.

I ordered the mml 7' 6" spinner and thought it would have been here by now. I am curious also.
