2021 steez ags rods
Re: 2021 steez ags rods
I have the new 7'1'' finesse spinning and i love that rod. It's been fantastic the past couple months on the water for big lake erie smallies, and this rod does any style of drop shotting really well: dragging, drop swim, vertical, etc. I am fortunate to have the older blue AGS 7' ML as well for comparison and I feel the newer AGS ML is an upgrade in every way. The newer one has slightly more backbone, faster tip, and in my hands is a little more sensitive. Awesome rod, I highly recommend.

What is the consensus on the spinning rods? I know the 76mml is legendary but how are the other two? Trying to decide If I want to sell my unused nrx852s and pick up a steez ags spin during BF or wait and see if megabass releases a new series soon and hope they have a rehash of the addermine

Re: 2021 steez ags rods
Well, I had the 7’1 M Steez, original 852, and Addermine. I liked the Addermine the best of the three, but I have no regrets unloading it. The Steez is much more powerful than the 852 and Addermine. The 852 was way too fast for me. The Addermine would be an awesome rod for someone looking to do a little bit of everything well, but it never excelled at one thing.Firstoutfisher wrote: ↑Mon Nov 22, 2021 3:19 pmWhat is the consensus on the spinning rods? Has anyone had any issues with the new ags guides thus far? The target sniper would be near perfect for my application, though the history of these guides makes me nervous. Fishing ozark rivers in a jet boat or canoe can occasionally be rough on equipment
I do have the sensor but I baby it and haven’t had it on the river

AGS guides are usually very sturdy. I use some AGS rods for my bank fishing activities where I go through the thickest brush.
For your river runs I would recommend getting one of the neopren rodsacks and put them in when it gets rougher.

I personally do not bushwhack with my steez rods but understand why people do. The AGS guides should hold up fine but any limb just right can mess up any guide. I usually steelhead fish in some thick woods and I can't stomach fishing anything over $100 unless I have a killer replacement warranty/cost on something. I also enjoy 2 and 3 piece travel rods for trekking. I have a feeling most people are realizing that these sticks are hard to put down!

I fish smallmouth on some of the boniest rivers on the east coast with hundreds of miles floated a year. Zero issues with mine and all of my rods have those guides. They also ride around in a side by side utv through the woods a lot.evilcatfish wrote: ↑Tue Nov 23, 2021 5:12 amHas anyone had any issues with the new ags guides thus far? If you could only have one of them which one would it be and why IE most versatile? Which one would be best for dropshot? Think any of them would be suitable for jerking?TravisNY wrote: ↑Tue Nov 23, 2021 5:37 pmI’ve fished all three. I have two of the spinners. The 7-6 ML/M and the 7'-1 M. For jerkbaits go with the M F. For dropshot 7-1 ML. Versatility and also dropshot go with the 7-6. I think the M F is a powerful Medium. It does resemble the 852 a little but it is fast not XF. I will be throwing jerkbaits on the M F almost exclusive next season.

If you can countenance jerking to the side, like I do on a kayak or from shore...the 76MML is an excellent JB rod. Bombs them out there, crisp/lively tip with great recovery (much improved from prev gen 76MML), and keeps fish pinned nicely.

I use jerkbait retrieve to the side as well. I'll have to try the 7-6 with that. Good suggestion!

Re: 2021 steez ags rods
I finally settled on the target sniper for my skipping/all around kayak setup. Hookuptackle is having buy one get one 50% off and I was thinking of picking up one of the spinning rods to pair with it but looks like just about everyone is out of stock on those except for a few 7'1ML models. Think I am going to either pair it was a JDM met b(gasp. Or wait for the new zillion HD.

I echo your take.
