Reel Loose on Expride
Reel Loose on Expride
I have an expride 610M casting rod and I noticed movement in the reel with the nut tightened all the way. This was with the new Metanium MGL. thinking it might be the reel I tried a CuradoK with the same results. anyone else have this problem?
Is there a fix? I'd rather not have to send this rod back as Shimano simply has no 610M in the pipeline...

Heat shrink over the ends of the reel feet to fill the gap.ra2bach wrote: ↑Fri Sep 17, 2021 9:51 amI have an expride 610M casting rod and I noticed movement in the reel with the nut tightened all the way. Seriously? I've never heard of that. seems quite a bit bigger than the gap requires.Finnz922 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 17, 2021 2:00 pmHeat shrink over the ends of the reel feet to fill the gap.ra2bach wrote: ↑Fri Sep 17, 2021 9:51 amI have an expride 610M casting rod and I noticed movement in the reel with the nut tightened all the way. Re: Reel Loose on Expride
Well, not sure if it will work with Shimano, but I have used fix before for other combo. Cheaper than sourcing reel foot protector which is another avenue.
Re: Reel Loose on Expride
ok, well ya never know till ya try, right?
I'm just a little disillusioned that an eXpride would have a wonky reel seat. other reels on that rod do the same thing and that reel works on other rods.
Re: Reel Loose on Expride
While heat shrink does work, it does have the potential to slide off. Self adhesive cloth tape works better, commonly cold as vet wrap. I had to wrap the foot of my SS Tournament 700 so it would work on some of my rods. It's stretchy and only sticks to itself and you can find it at most hardware stores. Pretty cheap too.
Re: Reel Loose on Expride
I've owned about 6 different casting Exprides, and I too have the same problem with my 6'10 M. I think it is something specific to how the reel seat is attached on the particular model. I have some reels I have put on it before that didn't have an issues, but most of my Shimano reels you really have to torque the sucker down.ra2bach wrote: ↑Fri Sep 17, 2021 9:51 amI have an expride 610M casting rod and I noticed movement in the reel with the nut tightened all the way.
