Hammer Rods / Large Walking Bait Rod

Post by Valingbeard » Tue Sep 21, 2021 2:48 pm

I am thinking about getting a 6' 9" heavy hammer rod for throwing big topwaters like super spooks etc that weigh 1 oz and slightly more. Looking for a rod less than 7' with a fast tip and medium action that is not too wimpy and is parabolic if such an animal exist. Any experience with hammer rods or other rods you recommended that will work well with these large topwaters that are not over 7'. Thanks in advance for any info!

The 69 Heavy Hammer is a fantastic value Super Spook rod. It's certainly not a medium power rod, nor is it a fast "tip" rod, but is more of a strong medium heavy with a moderate fast action which places it squarely in the zone of the kind of rod you'd want for a Super Spook. It isn't anything I'd call wimpy at all, but definitely neither a fast action nor a medium power rod.
