Longer rods for skipping Senkos…
I sold 7 ft 842s MF spinning rod to and replaced it with a 872s 7’3 M Extra Fast. I was pretty proficient at skipping with the 7 footer. The extra length of the 872s makes skipping a little more challenging. I can still do it, just not as well. Will I get better with practice or is a 7'3 rod simply too long for skipping?

You just have to get used to it. I went the other way--skipping with a 7'3" and moving down to a 7' rod. I still have issues with getting the angle right on the shorter rod.
Re: Longer rods for skipping Senkos…
I skip 5 inch senkos with a 7'2" M Zodias. I also use a 6'8" a lot and a even as short as a 5'6". I only really find the short rods advantageous out of the Kayak. While I can and do skip the 7'2" I have less angles to work with and have to move around a lot more to reposition. With the 5'6" I can just float on by and fire off skips like a mad man. On the casting deck the 6'8" and 7'2" are just fine but I have a preference from 6'8".
