Old Nrx 873CRR vs Nrx + 873CRR

Post by Hennessy » Fri Jan 21, 2022 12:23 am

Just received the new Nrx + 873crr in the mail today. Won’t get around to fishing it for awhile but in hands it seems softer than the old model. It does feel lighter, weight wise & maybe that the reason. Wonder if anyone has/fished both models. Last year that old 873 became my fav rod, close behind was the 893

I had the old one and the NRX+. I much prefer the NRX +. It has plenty of backbone. I usually have a 1/2 jig tied on and I’m not sure there is a better rod out there for that. I think the weight is actually the same, but the new model balances better and has a more comfortable reel seat. I love it paired up with a Metanium.

Kool, I agree best 1/2oz jig rod I’ve fished. Last year I killed it fishing 5/16 Texas rig also & that’s the main reason I had to have another one. I’ve got a jdm Metanium on my old model & plan to get another one for the new model. Tight lines!
