Steez AGS 72H

My local shop has a couple. Think they will give me a deal. I broke tip on my old 71compile-x would be nice to replace it. It wasn't as sensitive as a lot of jig rods I've owned but it would be cool to have something similar. Anyone get any time with this rod? Mostly wondering about the low end of the lure rating. I think it was rated from 1/4-1 1/14 not 1/4-1 1/2. Don't think it will take much to talk me off the ledge

I'm interested in what people have to say...my next rod to be replaced will also be the old 7'1" H Compile-X, and I was thinking the new 7'2" as well.

I do not own the 7’2”, but I do own the BC2 and 7’4” XH. From my experience both are capable of hitting their lower limits. The XH more so as it’s a touch softer in the tip with a stronger midsection. The BC2 is a traditional fast action.

In my hands the new Steez rods are equivalent to the NRX+. I own the 893 and have spent some seat time with the 843mbr.

If you’re in the fence about the Steez and don’t yet own one, give it a shot.

I have thrown 1/4 oz Texas rigs plus plastic and it loaded and casted it well. The 7’2H has a nice lively tip imo and is overall a very versatile and impressive rod.

I had an 854 NRX for roughly 12 minutes and it is clearly more sensitive than that rod was lol.

For a pretty powerful rod, it is impressively sensitive in my hands. I think it is a standout in the line.

The Steez AGS 72H Power Pitch is leaps and bounds better than the old 71 Compile X. The Air Sensor reel seat is a lot more comfortable than the Air Beam for me. The sensitivity difference alone is significant with the new Power Pitch being far superior. I've spent a lot of time with this model and have thrown a huge range of baits on it during testing and now with the production model. 3/8 oz is a good starting point on the lower end of the range. A compact 3/8 oz jig and trailer in and around grass/cover is just fine on this rod. I've tried some 1/4 oz jig + trailer, and while it can be done, it is definitely more easily accomplished with other rods in the series.

I have a Steez A on mine. Balance point is right at the nut. I do not like a magnesium reel on this rod. It needs a aluminum frame reel. It is one incredible rod. It is crazy sensitive. You can easily feel bites on slack line. It's sweet spot is a 1/2 jig. Crazy how light it is to be a heavy rated rod. The best frog rod I have owned. Will absolutely bomb a frog. It is my favorite in the line up with the target sniper being a very close second.

I am using a 1/2 oz brush jig with Reaction Innovations spicy beaver, sweet beaver or a Xzone adrenaline craw trailer. 3/4 oz or so. I can weigh them if you would like. I will also pitch with the above trailers with a 3/16 pegged weight. At the same time I have no problem casting a 1/4 oz t-rig with a 8 to 10 in worm. Most of my Frogs are 5/8 to 3/4 oz.
For frogging I run a Daiwa SV103xsl on her.
