Does anyone have the new Expride B 6’10 M who previously had the old one. I have a couple of Expride B’s and was all set to buy the 6’10, but I’ve read on other forums that the new model is stiffer and not as good for jerkbaits. Can anyone weigh in?
If you do not want to risk it, just get the old one. Tacklewarehouse has them in stock right now.

I have the new B models in 711xh, 73xh, 72h and the 8xxh. I can tell you that they are definitely stiffer than the old models! Also, there might be some defective ones in the first batches. I already broke 2 right off the bat. The 711xh broke right out of the tube just trying to put line on. The 73xh broke on the second hookset on the second trip out with it. They are much lighter, stiffer and apparently more brittle than the previous models.

Thanks for the heads up ,I got the 711xh ,7,3xh as well .I noticed the new model 7’11 only goes to 2ounces vs 3 for the old so they must of changed the blank completely. Could this be a case of manufactures finding ways to cost cut…?( raw material shortages , etc) in any case I’m going baby my old models until the verdict is out completely.

Man Shimano lost their minds rating that rod to only 2oz!! As stiff as it is 2oz won't even load the tip up.

Hey guys, can anyone compare the 7 M F and 7-2 ML F spinners. I want to use for jerkbaits and they seem very similar.

The more I use the new Expride 7'2" MLXF casting, the more I begin to feel for the difference over that of the Zodias 7'2" MLXF casting. The lighter and faster Expride does allow for a faster casting stroke and rebounds faster as well. There is a faster finesse tip transfer so just a little less motion needed as well.

I have the 73xh-a, and the 610ml-a, the 73 is crazy powerful for it's weight but I'm probably going to sell it, I don't frog or punch much and I'm moving away from bigger paddletails which is the primary reason I bought it. The 610ml though is becoming one of my all time favorites, it's a dropshot rod but I don't do that much, I use it primarily as a ned rig rod, also throw a lot of jig/grubs on it. I agree with others that it does not punch above it's weight but not below either, I think it's priced right where it should be.

I don't have those two specific rods, but I got the 6'10" M and the 6'10" ML. Of those two rods, I'd pick the Medium rod for jerkbaits.

I don't understand Shimano's spinning rod ratings FWIW, where a M spinning rod is usually rated 1/4oz lower than its casting counterpart. The M casters are rated up to 3/4oz, not 1/2oz as the spinner.

I appreciate the reply. I don't understand that either. I have also heard the new exprides are more powerful so now I have no clue what a ML will feel like.

I used to have the new Expride B 70M and I was shocked how fast the taper was. I was expecting it to have a pretty moderate bend, it was a pretty good weightless Senior rod. I feel like Exprides are the gateway rod series to the highest tier rods. It’s the stepping stone on your way to (name your favorite out of NRX, Conquest, Steez, P5, etc.)

Anyone have the 7mg? Looking for a open water cranking rod. Mainly will be cranking points and isolated rock piles down to 15ft. Can not decide between the 7mg or the 72mhg. No local shop around here has any in stock to play with.
Thanks.

The B model is stiffer but still a good jerkbait rod. If you have the A model just hang on to it. I feel like I should have kept my 6'10" A med models. They were slightly more limber than the 6'10" B mediums.
