Anyone have this rod?

What do you use it for and how do you like it?

I have the 782c and it's moved to the top of my rotation. Use it for topwater (up to 1/2oz), jerkbaits, and cranks (DT-6) as well as Ned rigs (tip is prolly too soft). Alderbaran 50 with 10# braid/leader.

Unfortunate part- my wife has also decided this is her favorite combo. :)

I wonder if the 782s is the same blank as the 782c?

It would mainly be used for Jerkbaits in the 1/4oz range, rivers for trout with a swift current.

A friend of mine said he would sell me his for $300, its brand new....

Not sure, but I would imagine they use the same blanks for casting/spinning. Others with more(better) knowledge will hopefully chime in.

I’d get it in a heartbeat for that price. As I mentioned, the tip is more a mod fast instead of fast. My preference is for a mod fast on those lures. My wife’s ditched a Kistler Mag2 rod— which is a 6’8” mod fast rod because she couldn’t “feel anything.” That 782c transmits everything. And she is right 😀

Is your Mag2 with the NFC blank?

Right now I'm using a Mag2 7' medium light NFC blank and its very sensitive, I just hate the reel seat and guides.

Yep- NFC blank. it’s a “Light Medium Heavy /Mod Fast”. Can’t remember the lure rating right now. I used that rod for the exact presentations and man oh man the 782c just transmits everything. Not a fair comparison- $200 vs. $730.

I’ve got access to the same Mag2 spinning rod and it’s more sensitive then that Mag2 casting rod but no where near the CNQ or a ZBone or an Addermine.. etc.

I don’t mind the reel seat (much) but that huge butt! I’ve come close to sanding it down but just haven’t. Agree on the guides as well.

I was wrong on the price, he wants $400 but that is still a good deal so I got it.
Rod should be here by the end of next week.

Still has the tags on it...

Got the rod yesterday, took it trout fishing and it worked flawlessly, Its super light and balances perfect
with a Excense 3000, I forgot how much I loved the torzite guides, they just look clean.
Then blank is thin but has some reserved power with a very nice tip.

Feels good having a 6'6" back in the mix, its been a long time since I had a rod this short, I missed this length :big grin:

This combo weighs 10.5 ounces with line....

10.5 oz? Is that correct? Exsence is 6.5 with line and 782 was listed as 3.31.

I'm close to getting the Conquest SJR 782 but not if it is actually 4 ounces.

Please scale weight rod if you have time.

Thanks.

Rick

I was wrong on the weight of the Exsence, it is 6.3 oz

That is correct on the Conquest 782 at 3.31.
