Chris Johnston Rod
Watching a little of the Elite Series this Morning
Chris Johnston was using a rod that is not currently in the lineup. Spinning Rod with Cork Handle, painted silver to the first guide, then Black to the tip. Appeared to have AGS guides

Think I saw the rods you were talking about and looks like there will be a 7'5" H rod but he lure and line weight look interesting.

Looking at that link with pictures of his on deck rods and locker rods....I wonder if I would lose my OCD ways of making sure my tackle stays pristine if I got them free. Probably not. It's just how I roll.

Re: Chris Johnston Rod
I only saw the spinning rod on the TV coverage and that is it laying on the deck. The casting rod with cork appears to be a Tatula Elite given the prefix of the model number, I therfore assume the cork handled spinner will be as well.

Funny how you can see things like that when you actually look for them

If I get pristine tackle the first thing I do is mark it up. It feels weird having fishing rods and reels that aren't marked up.

Sure looks like a new tatula elite rod line up that will be coming in the future. I saw this the other day and looked those pictures over closely as well. Thank goodness they are adding cork!

That silver to black fade is reminiscent of earlier daiwa rods like the Light and Tough. Neat. I never liked the gray eva of the current Tatula Elite rods and all the silver.

Re: Chris Johnston Rod
The all silver look will always look like a knockoff since the Shimano Canis was the best looking "all silver" rods made within the last ~ 20 years.
IMO.

Any idea when these will be announced? I've been planning on a Tatula Elite rod but'd rather wait for these new ones.

Re: Chris Johnston Rod
It is also possible that the new rods are introduced without changes to the older ones. Daiwa has said that the rods were to be designed by the pros with their choice of handle etc, so why not release the rod with cork handles? There are rods in the series now that have different handle designs, mostly spinning, although there are a mix of full and split baitcasting handles, but I agree it will be at least March before we know for sure.
