Re: Choose a rod brand
I am not sponsored or brand loyal so I dip my toes into many pools. Old School OG Era MB are right up there with anything top shelf. New MB not so much. Evergreen is certainly up there as well. For more easily sourced rods higher end Steez, Loomis GLX/NRX, Shimano and Phoenix K2 are all up there. I have 6 custom rods which are all really nice but can get pricey quickly and their resell value is next to nothing

Daiwa for me. Love the steez AGS rods too much. Megabass would be a close second.

Re: Choose a rod brand
Well I’ve nearly done this with my current collection. I don’t mind buying and selling rods until I have exactly the ones I want. And I am now ALL Megabass except for a Steez AGS that I keep in my car, a Yamaga Blanks Ajing rod for panfish, and a St Croix mojo bass for sentimental reasons. Bronzefly sold me a Whippet, Tequila Baccarac, and a Ronin then it was just over for me. I snagged or traded for a whole lineup whenever I had an opportunity on specific models, selling my NRX+ rods and St Croix Legend X/Extremes in order to do so. Nothing I’ve tried matches my preferences so ridiculously well. Gone so far as to drive 2 hours on a few occasions because I found out a particular dealer had something in stock.
That new Steez lineup is awesome though. Still prefer my P5/Valkyrie but it would be my second choice.

Daiwa for me but I hope to never be in a position with only one brand as an option.
