Mullti piece tarpon spinning rod

Post by dragon1 » Mon Mar 13, 2023 5:12 pm

Please recommend a multi-piece travel spinning rod ~ $150 range or less that can handle small to medium tarpon. A shorter length than 7'6" would be nice as there is a bit of mangroves and tight spots in this Caribbean land locked fresh water lake.

Most tarpon will be in the 15-30 lb class with a few in the 50-60.

Thanks in advance.

$150 is going to be tough. The closest I can tell you would be the new avid trek series from St. Croix. They have a 7'6 that would handle smaller tarpon. Otherwise go after a tackle direct MH travel rod for $100

If you are willing to go over your budget take a look at the Tailwalk Namazon Mobilly S775MH. It is a 5 piece jdm rod - Tailwalk.jp. I have two, and they have serious backbone. I haven’t fished tarpon but I think this rod would work well. About $230 shipped from Japan. Pretty available from a number of Japanese online retailers.

The Daiwa Ardito 7'6 MH will absolutely do it.
