P5 Kasumi Six Eleven for small cranks

Post by reason162 » Mon Mar 27, 2023 12:55 pm

Been throwing the IXI shads and Z1/Z2/Z3 on my Adrena 67BFS - perfect, but I want a second rod with a little more length.

Anyone have the Kasumi 611 for small cranks? The Z3 pulls a bit, wondering if the F2.5 slow taper is too soft. Any other suggestions welcome.

I just picked up this rod for exactly this purpose, but unfortunately I have not had a chance to use it yet. My plan is to throw the IXI Shads and Z2s with it in the next few weeks. I don't have any of the Z3s so I wouldn't be any help there.

A few weeks ago I was tossing a 1/4 oz blade bait just to get a feel for the rod and it loaded nicely on the cast, but was a much slower action than I would prefer for working the blade.

I did happen to foul hook what was about a 20# carp in the dorsal fin with the blade and I was able to fight and land that thing so the rod definitely has some power to it.

Any chance to use it yet? Buy a Z3 in Green Craw and test it out for me - you'll catch fish too, win - win!

Haha. Unfortunately not yet, but I'm planning on getting out this weekend. However, it will only be with the IxI Shad Type 3 and Z2 bc that's all I have. I'll try to report back on those if I end up throwing them.

So I got out yesterday but the water temps have jumped to 46-50* and the bass are already chewing the RkCrawler 55 so that was what I threw primarily. Didn't toss any of my Megabass cranks at all.

I have a pair of 6-11's...love them. I throw a lot of small cranks, and will be adding the imx-pro 841 cbr next.

What cranks have you thrown on them and what reels/line do you pair them with?

I throw all kinds of 3/16-5/16oz cranks...black label peanut/hickster, buck creek money maker/dinky donker, frittside 5jr, ect. Running some 6lb Pline CXX (.009") and 6lb Trilene XL 'armor coat' (.010") lines. I'm not throwing anything that would require a bfs reel, and have use tatulas (80/103sv), steez sv w/ zpi M, and 13 Concept A w/ KP spool. I think an Alphas 800S would be ideal.
