2 Piece Casting Rod 7'0 - 7'6"??
2 Piece Casting Rod 7'0 - 7'6"??
Hey guys--I'm looking to find a 2 piece medium heavy casting rod that's between 7' and 7'6" for striper from shore.
Usually throwing an LC Pointer 100 or a 4.3 Keitech on a 1/2 oz jig head.
Can you guys recommend something to me? I'd like to keep the price somewhere in the $150 range, but I'm flexible.
Thanks in advance!

Price has gone up a little on these and I'd get a heavy, but here's at least one option (click on the image):

A friend from Canada has one of these and likes it a lot. He has the 76MH and uses it for pike.

Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

Not sure... I just know the one I fished was over rated.

You might try a rod from aliexpress, I have a few tsurinoya rods (proflex 2) that are 2 piece, they are cheap but are a good rod for the $
Re: 2 Piece Casting Rod 7'0 - 7'6"??
If you can live with a 3 piece, the MH Daiwa Ardito will do exactly what you're asking. I own the XF ML, and the 7'6 MH Casting and Spinning. Great rods.

I guess I need to throw my wish list in the mix for something similar...
I am primarily a fly fishermen but I am currently looking for an excuse to buy a new primary casting rod since I haven't bought anything new conventional tackle-wise with the exception of some BFS tackle in DECADES.
That being said my go to casting rod all this time is a decades old Cabela's XML two piece 7'0" medium heavy casting rod. I love this rod and it does what ever I ask of it which is primarily throwing soft plastics with an occasional spinnerbait, hard bait or jig thrown in the mix.
I'll never be a specialist rod person as I am almost never in a boat and I am not about to carry multiple rods with me so the one stick has to be good at several things.
As I am a fly fisherman "joints" or ferrules don't phase me so the main criteria is two pieces (or three) and a COO of the USA or Japan. The Megabass Triza Stym Palides or the two tip Dragoon are of interest but I can't seem to find confirmation of the COO anywhere. Does anyone know for sure?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions you can offer!

COO's are sometimes defined differently.
Megabass are designed in Japan but not made in Japan. (mainly China)
There are fair number of Made in Japan grip joint rods, which some consider 2 piece. For actual 2 or 3 piece rods, they are few and far between and generally pricey, but here are a couple you can research.
Studio Composite STP Paradox 70-1.5, 7102 or 7603- The 70-1.5 is the lightest at throws from 8-20 grams, the 7102 is going to throw 10-28 grams, the 7603 will throw 12-40 grams. These are all built for versatility. Around $550 to $600
23 Shimano World Shaula 1702- very pricey, very versatile, this one throws 10-28 grams. Around $775
or if you can find their 18 version, '18 World Shaura 1702R-2 Multipurpose Long Special. around $500
No clue about US made rods.

Re: 2 Piece Casting Rod 7'0 - 7'6"??
While an interesting option, a grip joint rod won't suffice for my needs.
That's disheartening to hear about Megabass, but I suspected as much. Considering the Megabass price point I imagine other multi piece rods I've seen from Diawa & others priced lower are made in China as well.
Somehow I have a feeling I'll be using my Cabela's rods for a few more decades...
Thanks for the information!

Shimano Expride has two piece rods which are separating in the middle and not the handle (EU and JP markets, not sure about the US). I have a medium and a heavy, but they do have medium heavy as well. Those are very nice rods, but made in china and not japan.Bamboozle wrote: ↑Fri Jun 02, 2023 3:02 amWhile an interesting option, a grip joint rod won't suffice for my needs.
