GLX MBR843C vs GLX MBR842C for T-rigs
Hi folks, I just sold my NRX 854C JWR that I have used for T-rigs for a few years. This rod has amazing sensitivity, but the rear grip is too short, the balance is bad, and the tip is a bit heavy, IMHO.
I am now looking for a new rod that I will use with a trick worm or speed craw with a 3/16 bullet 90% of the time. I want a little less powerful rod with a longer handle, good balance and sensitivity. I have two options:
- Option one G. Loomis GLX 843C MBR: It may be the best option for my purpose, isn't it?
- Option Two G. Loomis GLX 842C MBR: Is this rod too weak for my target? I'm worried about the hooksets.
What do you prefer?
Thank you so much.

My vote would be for the 843. Like you mentioned, a 2 power might not have enough oomph in certain situations.

I own the 842c in glx and conquest and the glx is softer than the conquest but both rods are to light for that total weight. I'd reach for my ,893

Agreed with above consensus unless you go braid and short leader with the MBR 842, still you will likely want more backbone power than the "2" power.

I don’t have a direct comparison, but I concur that the GLX 843 MBR is a great t-rig rod (including some cover, through the corners of tule fields etc.)

Thank you all for your opinions

I've fished a friend's GLX 783c with trigs a bit and it feels pretty darn good. I definitely wouldn't want to go down to a 2 power.

With everyone recommending the 843, I'm wondering how I ever caught a fish on a T Rig with a L powered Shimano BFS rod and 7LB Sniper.
I used to own the OG 843IMX and the OG 842GLX and I would have no issues at all with using the 842 for T Rigs.

True John, but there's still the factor of size/girth of plastic bait and hook size, along with whether it's clean bottoms or weeds or heavier cover...the OP is coming down from a 4 power jig/worm rod as well, but who knows without actual on the water testing.

843MBR is my favorite t rig rod. I floats in your hand, and is super sensitive and comfy.
