Re: Daiwa Alphas Air TW 2020
I am coming late to this thread.
Sagisi's work look impressive. So the whole idea is just to add a clicking sound when the drag is being pulled? That would be good. Any other advantages? And any idea of the cost?
Thanks for a fascinating thread.

Anybody has issues with spool inductor getting stuck in extended position with alphas air tw? I had it happen few times already, seems to happen after backlash or harder cast. I've added a drop of oil on the ramp but did not help, any ideas how to fix it?
Re: Daiwa Alphas Air TW 2020
It has not happened to me yet - only used the reel on three outings or so. Perhaps new spring?
Re: Daiwa Alphas Air TW 2020
I have not Alphas Air, but ct Alphas. It arrived with sticky inductor. I tried to wipe it clean, and I tried to lube it. Nothing helped. I could't see what's wrong with it. But by pressing inductor slightly and then twisting it, it was clear that it didn't twist smoothly.
When casting, in ~20% of casts Inductor didn't move at all, and I got immediately birdnest. With those 80% of casts when inductor extended, ~30% of those 80% inductor didn't go back in and casting distance was max 15 feet.
I replaced inductor parts by Ray's inductor, but I still don't have tested it because I bought RCS spool with working inductor...

Glad to see this come to life. I am also glad I jumped in line for one right away. This will make the Alphas AIR TW closest to perfection as it gets.

I messaged Sagisi Customs when he was talking about making them a while back.Pastrmka wrote: ↑Tue Dec 01, 2020 2:27 pmHow to get in line for this?Hobie-Wan Kenobi wrote: ↑Tue Dec 01, 2020 7:06 amGlad to see this come to life. For those of you with sticky inductors, is one of the ramps (beveled piece on shaft) white plastic? If not the black plastic pieces with gaps are notorious for sticking. The white block sticking shouldn't even be possible unless their is another design. They fixed my SV105 for free even though it never stuck once.
