Daiwa Alphas Air TW 2020

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

I'm guessing the clicker race needs to be glued in place.

Daiwa 20 Alphas Air TW drag clicker update:

I’ve been working on a plastic injection mold with my machinist for a while now. The mold got done sooner then expected and works near perfect.

THIS IS NOT a version 2 to my drag clicker but it is a tuning option that each and every purchaser of my clicker kit will receive for free, including shipping. (I will start shipping tuning option starting this Friday, nothing needs to be done on your part. I will ship to same address provided on initial purchase).

-The plastic clicker is 52 teeth compared
to 58 teeth on the metal clicker ring.

-Plastic ring is made of 40% carbon nylon

-Plastic ring is louder and has more felt clicks. It is still very smooth but not ultra smooth like the metal ring.

Depending on the species you fish you will now have the ability to fine tune your clicker drag to your liking with either the metal or plastic ring.

Installation instructions will be updated and can be found here:

This is really remarkable work...and service. I take pleasure just looking at the pictures of your craft. Thank you.

Options are nice to have. I like the metal one how it is. I will test the plastic/carbon one just to tinker around.

Will the plastic ring come off after gluing as easy as the metal one? I will stick with the metal one but, dont want to... :-k ...involuntarily commit to the plastic one.

For people who have the clicker, how do you like it so far? Does it work on the same principle as one in steez ct? And how does it compare to one in steez ct?

Clicker is awesome. The metal one is more like a high end spinning reel drag sound. Plastic ring is a lot better than I expected. A bit louder and more tactile.

Hi all want to replace the bushings on the level wind of the alphas air tw.
What size bearings to go for 4x7x2.5 or 4x7x2 just curious I tried fitting the 4x7x2.5 with the extra wagers in palming side side plate - ended up bending a e ring clip getting it back on. Has anyone tried this yet - also does anyone know the size Or where one could get a replacement of the e ring clip as need to replace it
Thx 😊

Can anyone compare the Air TW with the Air Stream Custom?

I am looking to pick up a reel for use with 6lb Supernatural and lures in the 1/16-3/16oz range. It will be mostly freshwater fishing but a little use in brackish rivers for perch, so I was leaning towards the Air TW, but can't find much info comparing the two reels.

Go with the AIR TW. Definitely the better reel. I have extensively used both and I much prefer the AIR TW.

AIR TW is better in everyway except cosmetics.

Concur with HWK above, the alphas air tw is a step up over the ASC.

Not what I hoped to hear, but thanks. I wish I had jumped on the Air TW back when it was cheaper.

To drift off topic, how does the Curado BFS stack up against those two?
