Daiwa Alphas Air TW 2020

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Badass! I feel like the closer In drag design we can get with a Steez CT the better. I was getting ready to order old drag clicker aftermarket parts for older Alphas’, but that would require using different drag washers. Personally, I’d want to keep using the stock 1 pc drag washer. A lot of us would buy your kit if you get it to your liking and you decide to make it available for us plebeians 😬😬😬😬

Sagisi customs:

Does the gear set itself from steez ct fit in the alpha tw?
That would open up for a lot more gear ratio options in the alpha...

I also checked the price for gears on plat fishing, the pinion and drive gear are priced equally,
that often is the price for the set (both pinion and drive gear)...

Tight lines :)

Just finished v2 prototype and it feels and sounds identical to a Steez ct drag clicker. Design has been sent to my machine shop. I will get you guys more details in the coming weeks. Gonna fish it this weekend but from comparing side to side with Steez ct, I know it’s gonna perform flawlessly. I have video/sound of clicker up on the facebook bfs fishing page or you can message me if you want me to email/txt it.

Thanks guys! My machinist came by and picked up the prototype. Clicker gear will be made of harder material for ultimate durability. On my mini mill I used 7075 as it’s easier for me to work with. I bought a auto indexing rotary tool just for this project.

Part is modeled up in Solidworks. Going to be doing a few parts in different materials for testing.

Such an awesome idea. I feel the only gripe I have with the Alphas AIR TW was not having the clicking drag. I love when a big bluegill screams out drag in my Aldebaran BFS.

Now that we are at it, how about removing the spacers around the spool and fit a more usable spool for normal bass fishing. Sometimes in the range of the 33mm diameter?
Has someone tried it?

That could really open the reel up for possibilities.

First batch of drag clicker kits should be available next week. OEM springs/detents from Steez CT has arrived. Top drag washer/detent housing we have added pockets to the design for ultimate weight savings. Prototypes we made out of different material including brass and steel but have decided to stick with 7075 aluminum.

Had my reel apart yesterday to add some bearings to the level wind. Ended up milling the main shaft for some weight loss Steez style.

Sagisi Customs - I am overly impressed by all the things you do. I follow your posts here and on FB. Still, 0.8 grams weight reduction? I hope you put your incredible skills to work elsewhere ;) :D

I truly appreciate the kind words. I’m a Certified Cerakote applicator and owner of Sagisi Customs. I mainly gunsmith and apply cerakote but sometimes sneak in a few fishing projects in while at the shop. I enjoy what I do and always work to better my craft. Hopefully in the near future my office can be out on the lake :)

Cerakote is not limited to just firearms. Collab w/ NorCalKat. Cerakoted and laser engraved lips.
