I posted a picture comparison months ago on page 14 between the steez A gears and new zillion gears(JDM-non brass). The main gear is identical. The pinion in the new zillion is a touch taller.DirtyD64 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 02, 2021 10:32 amJust got info from the Tackle Trap, Zillion Sv1000 gears will NOT be compatible in the Steez A. I finally ordered a 7.1 JDM Zillion and noticed my Steez had a faint ticking when reeling. Broke her down and re greased and now it is gone. I asked about Zillion gears thinking the brass might fix the issue if a loose spool pin/pinion connection...

So would you say that using zil1000 main gear and a steez tw pinion gear on a steez tw would be compatible?iabass8 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 02, 2021 5:42 pmI posted a picture comparison months ago on page 14 between the steez A gears and new zillion gears(JDM-non brass). Re: Zillion sv TW 1000
Assuming the above is correct, would the hyperdrive gear model make even a same-gear ratio pinion and main gear from the 2 different reels incompatible?
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.
Re: Zillion sv TW 1000
I havent compared the steez svtw gears to the zillion G yet. Just the steez a/morethan 7x to the zillion G.
Re: Zillion sv TW 1000
Probably, Brian (I think it was) said there is a diameter difference, so even though they look very close and even potentially mesh, they won't run correct in the Steez A/Zillion G swap...hoohoorjoo wrote: ↑Tue Aug 03, 2021 8:09 pmAssuming the above is correct, would the hyperdrive gear model make even a same-gear ratio pinion and main gear from the 2 different reels incompatible?
Re: Zillion sv TW 1000
Good question. Not sure who will be the guinea pig. The main gears i found identical had the same dimensions in the meter with each other between the steez A and zillion G but the pinion was where the difference laid. I havent tried to pinion interchangeably . They are allegedly cut different according to some social media posts. I cant tell a difference but i’m told there is one.hoohoorjoo wrote: ↑Tue Aug 03, 2021 8:09 pmAssuming the above is correct, would the hyperdrive gear model make even a same-gear ratio pinion and main gear from the 2 different reels incompatible?

Re: Zillion sv TW 1000
Well just got the new Zillion in. Makes me ashamed of Steez A. The Zillion is great, palms well, everything feels good. Paint seems okay, just going to be careful with it as possible. I'm just begging for help now concerning my Steez... these two reels are supposed to be similar in retrieve but mine feels wrong. If no solution I might just get another of these Zillions or even the Alphas. Would love to get a Metanium 2020 and compare that to the Zillion in a long review...

Re: Zillion sv TW 1000
Been doing that for a while now. I've had the Mets for a year and a half of heavy use.
Coming to the end of about 6 or so months of heavy use with the JDM Zillions.
To sum up. They are very different reels. Each with strengths/weaknesses. They do overlap a good bit in certain areas, but for the most part, very different reels.
Re: Zillion sv TW 1000
There is like a tick when retrieving, but only on the water while pulling line. If I give it heavier pressure, you normally don't feel it. Sometimes it is more smooth than the new Zillion, other times it feels like a sub 100 reel. I found the stock Steez A spool has a thicker shaft so I tried it and got the same result!!! Going crazy over this.SSS wrote: ↑Thu Aug 05, 2021 3:36 pmThe steez feeling wrong in what way?DirtyD64 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 05, 2021 3:16 pmWell just got the new Zillion in. Makes me ashamed of Steez A. Re: Zillion sv TW 1000
Sounds like it could also be a bad lower pinion bearing.

I have the exact same issue with my steez tw and an alphas Didin't service the Steez, but i did service the Alphas and its not gone. Have read multiple people having this issue, but none with how to fix it.DirtyD64 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 05, 2021 4:32 pmThere is like a tick when retrieving, but only on the water while pulling line. Did you service it, Daiwa US, or The Tackle Trap. I bet TTT fixes you right up.
